With a 50 mph speed limit it is a fertile ground for our police to make speeding stops because this road is used by folks headed West in the morning to work, and others headed East to work.

I did factory approved specs for 18s, it's just how it is so I've always used GPS for exactly how off my car was

It's a straight road running for about a mile between grass farms.

I have been using it and I like it, except I have an oldish Android phone so the display area is limited and the characters and text they use are quite large.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

And for those not from Ontario, $10000 fine, car is impounded for 7 days. You pay storage. Mandatory court appearance.
I need to slow down.
As a youngster I would drive to Momtreal, 350 miles in 3.5 hours.
Wow those Canucks don't play around! In the US you generally just pay the fine and be on your way.
101 isn't even that fast...
I once got away with a warning going 140 in a 75 (empty toll road) . Cop was a car guy and asked me to please slow down. Truth be told he didn't have a radar gun...
You're right, I checked mine this weekend and it's consistently 3. Also thanks for confirming, proof for the wife that I'm not going as fast as she thinks I am.
Canadian speed limits and tickets are ridiculous. It's all about the extra taxation for the municipalities...
So, I definitely NEVER speed...and NEVER do it in locations where cops don't go.
I also NEVER speed although I was stopped for 75 in 50 about six months ago. I don't consider that speeding. I had a clean record so the guy let me off, admiring my 911. So I picked up a Valentine radar detector and it has already saved me from 3 traps. I wasn't speeding of course, but I would probably been written up anyway. These traps were on secondary roads. On the local interstates here in NE US most of the posted speed limits are from 50 to 65 MPH. The traffic moves at 75 to 85 mph. It seems for the most part that speeding as we know it on the interstates doesn't really get any attention the way it did in the past. But one does need to be armed with a reliable radar detector just the same.
I am aware that owning a radar detector is illegal in most of Canada but I don't see how driving our cars can be compatible with a high threat environment such as that. If I were Canadian I think I would be in the business of outfitting my Porsche with a stealthy radar detector. I have read that the RCMP have radar detector detectors but I'm pretty sure my Valentine is stealthy against that threat, and maybe others.
Just to be clear, I never speed. But my wife was stopped 45 in a 25 zone. I do not consider that to be speeding. She also has a clean record and was let off with a small fine and no mark on her record. She doesn't speed either. However her Boxster now sports a Valentine also. But she never speeds, of course
Rick
Where she was stopped is not a neighborhood. Out in the countryside. It's a straight road running for about a mile between grass farms. They speed trap it to slow down college students taking this road as the rear entrance to the campus. No homes, no kids playing or dogs running across the road.
We try to avoid obvious traps even with the radar detectors. We certainly don't use this road any longer.
And I would agree, 45 in a 25 neighborhood is speeding.
I just picked it up in the last month or so. I have been using it and I like it, except I have an oldish Android phone so the display area is limited and the characters and text they use are quite large. But it is nice to get the heads up on speed traps.
But of course, I don't speed.
I also notice that some Waze features seem to be creeping into the latest Google maps.
Where I was stopped is a 4 lane, divided, limited access highway through a rural area of our town. With a 50 mph speed limit it is a fertile ground for our police to make speeding stops because this road is used by folks headed West in the morning to work, and others headed East to work. Such folks often have a heavy foot.
And he seemed to agree with me that I wasn't speeding.
I never speed.
Rick
In Oregon, 100 is the cutoff, > and its a felony..
But since covid 55 somehow = 75 on my morning commute..
Our cops use laser and there isn't a detector that will save you.. There are jammers, but the lidar gun tells them they are being jammed.
I don't even bother with a detector (let alone a jammer).
Most officers are looking more for bad driving practices versus outright speed. It all boils down to safety, unless you have one of those police forces that use traffic citations more for revenue than a deterrent.
10 mph over the limit in Florida does not seem to rattle nerves. I've passed police cars doing that and have not been stopped once in the last 145,000 miles in a red winged sports car. Then again, I try to avoid anything that looks like aggressive driving.
And yes, Rick, I do speed (-selectively-).
As a famous US president, whose name escapes me at the moment, once said in a slightly different context:
"...It depends on the definition of (well, in this case) speeding..."
In RI the basic speed law is:
......"basic speed rule"
prohibits motorists from driving faster than is "reasonable and prudent" based on current conditions
. In other words, motorists must always drive a safe speed taking into consideration traffic, weather, visibility, and other potential hazards.....
So there is some latitude.
We spent 10 winters in the Naples area and I never saw even one speed trap. It seems the police have other more pressing priorities. Just one of many things I appreciated and respected in the FL state and local governments. Very well run.
