Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm wondering if someone would be able to measure the side gauge faces of the 996 cluster. I have a 986 and would like to mod the cluster to add two oled screens in those empty areas. I'm away from home and and would appreciate it if someone is able to help so I won't have to wait until I get home to order the correct size. Thanks.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for helping. Width and height of the dial face.

POST 4Original post

These measurements are approximate. I used a piece of paper to get close, because the scale doesn't bend. It looks like 40mm wide and 80mm high. Measured to the outside of the bezel. The bezel is aprox. 5mm wide. Mine is a 2002 C2. Theo

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you very much for taking the time to do this. Those measurements are fine. I'll share a photo of the result if I succeed.

POST 6Original post

Yes, upload pics if it works. No problem taking a measurement. Rainy day here so she is stuck in the garage all day.

POST 7Original post

Look for a thread about swapping 996 cluster into a 986. It appeared to be a fairly simple swap.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes. It's a nice mod but way too expensive for a dedicated track car like mine. Good tip for those with pristine cars, though.
