Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

IIRR, isn't there a site to check vin for having been done with LN solution & or nickies sleeves...?

If I submerge it in the parts cleaning tank seems the doors close up almost tight..?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Got another 996, a 996.2 with 36,000miles, picked it up real cheap. Engine seems to run strong very strong. Might have had the imsb done, not sure, might of even had engine done, not sure. Has headers and a Fabspeed exhaust, B6 struts, slightly dented front fender/bumper and some light/slight surface rust. Wheels are chrome my02, 5 spoke, chrome is flaking off bad.
Got the sump off now, about to scope it. Looks good, no chunks of guide, no metallic in pan or filter, just a little black sealer on the sump cover, don't think its factory. IIRR, isn't there a site to check vin for having been done with LN solution & or nickies sleeves...?
Check out the sumps rubber baffles warped out not flat. They can't seal well like this, if they are even meant to seal better..? Anyone got tips on the best way to get the best scope cyl pics...? Or anything else to do in there now that its apart..?
Not sure if I'm going to fix the body up,,,part it out, or resell total car like it is, or sell the engine and drop in a LS or 2.7t and have another track car... At first glance the cyls look ok, after it stops dripping will dive in farther for a better scope of the cyls...
Rubber and plastics don't go great in hot oil for 20+ years so what you're seeing is probably normal. For scope the bores I think there is a flat six video on doing it. Try some googling
I saw that video as well. Jake recommended getting a borescope with a thin head.
the one I have is 8.6mm so I got another one measuring 4mm.
I ended up using both. Didnt had an issue with the larger one (once I got the hang of it) and got better quality pictures.
both are of the same brand.
@allcool
you are more then welcome to stop by and pick both.
I also have a baffle in a good shape you can have.
Ya, after looking at the sump cover with baffle, not sure it matters much if doors are straight/flat. Might make for a slower response to oil slosh but eventually it will probably close tighter with enough oil slosh. Maybe just filling up the sump with oil will keep it closed enough..? If I submerge it in the parts cleaning tank seems the doors close up almost tight..?
Little disappointed a expensive(in its day) sports car known for its superior hard cornering ability doesn't have a better designed oil sump. Oil stability thread proves that. Guess a 2qt accusump piped in correctly will fix all these type problems.
Is your baffle closed tight when just sitting there...?
I also have the 8mm scope, seems to work ok...? It is only 720p though.
Thats a generous offer, might have to take you up on that. Anyhow, I want to stop by and see how your engine is progressing.
the baffle I have looks a little bit more tight but definitely not completely shot. The rubber flaps are very soft and pliable though.
unfortunately no progress made with my engine beside labeling and packing all the parts.
Im very close to making a decision regarding the route Im going to take.
you are more then welcome to stop by anytime.
Ill PM you my information.
