Can't remember which of the unused fuse slots I used right now, but there were a few empty ones to pick from.

I would like to add an accessory (or two) to my 996 1999 but I do not want to use a fuse tap on the front face of the fuse box rather I would prefer to tap into an unused powered connector at the back of the fuse box.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello I would like to add an accessory (or two) to my 996 1999 but I do not want to use a fuse tap on the front face of the fuse box rather I would prefer to tap into an unused powered connector at the back of the fuse box. I know some BMW’s have completely unused powered fuse sockets in the fuse box whereby you can simply remove the fuse box and then push a new wire (with the relevant connector) into the relevant empty socket at the back of the fuse box to act as a feed from that powered socket and wondered if 996’s have any such spare feed slots? Many thanks

depends on how much Amp you are looking to for

POST 3Original post

I had to add a fused power source for a subwoofer project on my car last summer. I needed more power than was available with the standard 'accessory' slots that it does have spare (D10 in that diagram above, for example). Can't remember which of the unused fuse slots I used right now, but there were a few empty ones to pick from. I also ordered a set of VW group fusebox pins to allow me to do everything in a nice OEM way: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12603283...teid=0&campid=&customid=&toolid=10001&mkevt=1 Hope that helps!
