Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I think they recommend the use of the Cup car bumper - in which case the exhaust would definitely be on show…
Leading evidence: 'Recommend the' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend the' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I need to get the rear bumper on my 996.1 replaced and thought it might be a good opportunity to look at a possible centre exit exhaust. Unfortunately, it seems like RPM Technik no longer build their CSR centre exit (it’s also prohibitively expensive). I was wondering;
1. Has anyone done it? Any tips?
2. Does the 996.2 rear bumper fit a 996.1?
3. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks very much.
My Informations:
996.2 Rear Bumper fits... looks jus a little different than the .1
If you mount the center exhaust, where does the cat´s go? Delete them totally? I think, there is no Room for a exhaust pipe between the cats and the rear bumper... or does the new pipes goes underneth the cats? But then you see them from behind... hmmm...
I believe the RPM Technik version repositioned the cats to the sides (near the mufflers). Not sure how the DesignTek system would work. Presumably it would have to go below the cats? I think they recommend the use of the Cup car bumper - in which case the exhaust would definitely be on show…
The 996.2 rear bumper fits the 996.1 but you also need to fit the heat shielding in order to do a decent job as the .2 bumper is an inch or so deeper all round
TO do it properly, you need to start with the modifying the manifolds. Have a look at pictures of a 996.2 GT3 Cup exhaust system. There are some variants that have additional silencers, you would need to add them, as just a centre silencer on its own (like a 997 GT3 one) would be very loud.
I actually have a 996.1 rear bumper thats been modified for a centre exit with a 987 Boxster/Cayman centre cutout moulded into it. I would sell this if its of intrest.
This guy has just made a hole in his existing exhaust in the centre and blanked out the old holes:

If you goto the videos tab he’s just posted a video of the car with a GT3 exhaust fitted and I have to say it sounds amazing to my ears!
