Since then, I checked a couple of other places that said they wouldn't need the whole car but one was too busy and the other one was such a dump, I was too nervous to use them.

I ran into that when I was asked for the price to have my center console painted by Bumperplugs.

Now go to bumperplugs.com and order a set unless you have to have a front plate.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've been needing a bumper respray since I bought my 03' Targa over 7+ years ago. Failing clear coat, a few small dents, battle scars, etc. have been marring an otherwise nearly pristine body. Well, I finally bit the bullet and had it done near my house in Sacramento at Niello Body Shop. Overall, I'm very pleased with the color match to the rest of the car and I'm glad I pulled the trigger. Next up in a few months will be recovering the front seats. I just need to keep socking away $ while I convince my better half just how important it is to get it done. Lol
Thank you. No, I didn't do the work. Body and paint isn't in my wheel house, which has me jealous of you and others who have the skills to do an excellent job at it. Make sure you share your final product with the forum. Cheers!
I'm usually hesitant to share the cost on these types of services as it seems doing so can become divisive / negative with folks chiming in they can't believe how much was paid...I'd never pay that much....this is only "x" amount in my town, that's why I do 'x' myself, etc. I ran into that when I was asked for the price to have my center console painted by Bumperplugs. Oh, well...if you're generally interested. I went into this knowing I was going to take my car to a shop with excellent reputation, Porsche certified body/paint, and assurances my 20yo car wouldn't get the "B" team..."you get what you pay for" mentality. I wasn't overly concerned with price as I had been saving for a while anticipating strong $. In the end, it was just that....about $3K all in. All that matters to me is that I'm satisfied with the value returned in exchange for my hard earned $ spent on my forever car.
Just out of curiosity, was that you just dropping the car off and them removing/reinstalling the bumper?
I literally just got back from getting a quote for my Aerokit bumper and it was $1,200. That is with me giving them the bumper off the car and the old bumper for matching purposes. Also, my bumper is new so there is a lot less prep/labor than an already painted bumper like yours.
$3k doesn't seem too out of line if that was them doing the removal and installation too. (and your bumper looks great BTW)
I initially requested to bring them the bumper but that that wasn't an option. So they removed and reinstalled the bumper cover. I did ask them to take a shop vac to the radiators while the cover was off which they did.
When I bought the bumper this time last year, I contacted the three Porsche approved shops in the area and out of the two that responded, both said they had to have the whole car too.
Since then, I checked a couple of other places that said they wouldn't need the whole car but one was too busy and the other one was such a dump, I was too nervous to use them. Seriously, this place looked like something out of that
Hoarders
TV show.
I started asking people I knew at some car events for recommendations and came up with a place really close to my house. I'm supposed to take it in next Wednesday so we shall see...
looks great. Niello did the front bumper on the 2002 C2 and they did a great job 4 years ago. we just got the car back from Hayes Detailing on X st. had a lifetime ceramic coating done and he had the seats sent out to redo them while the car getting detailed. check with them about where he had the seats done, they did a great job.
LOL trying to figure out what neighborhood your pics. were in, thinking Sierra Oaks or Arden Oaks ?
Ha! I'm with you running and not walking away from the one that looked like a dump. I hope you get the results you're expecting and make sure to post some pics for all of us to drool over.
Great to hear you were pleased with Niello's work. The picture of the car is from Arden Oaks. Thank you for the recommendation to check with Hayes Detailing!
I have ordered one for my targa but it's uninstalled right now. My friends have them installed on their teslas - IMHO looks better than the plate sticking off the mount
