Hi all! As part of my winter projects, I picked up a set of EPR carbon fiber side vents and just got them installed for a test fit. I’m running into some fitment issues and was hoping for some firsthand experience.
These vents replace both the inner and outer pieces, and my main issue is larger-than-expected gaps along the sidesof the vent. If I align the outer portion to minimize the gaps, the inner frame won’t fully seat, and the factory plastic clips don’t engage the body.
It looks like the OE clips mount differently on the factory inner frame versus the EPR piece, so I’m not sure if this is a design difference, an install nuance, or something that requires modification. I’d prefer not to start trimming or “hacking” the frames unless that’s the known solution.
Has anyone installed these EPR vents (or a similar one-piece inner/outer replacement)? Curious whether:
This is normal and needs tweaking
Different clips are required
Adhesive or bonding was used
Or if I’m missing something obvious
Not familiar with that particular brand, or other aftermarket side vents but when you hold and mirror them to the OEM vents is there a noticeable difference in size and shape? More noticeable is the visible screws holding them. I’m surprised that a sleek carbon fiber upgrade would show the mounting screws. I would expect a different attachment system or at least screw covers.
Next
step would be to reach out to the manufacturer for assistance.
My plan is to use black hardware or paint these black once they are set.
Already in talks with the manufacturer. I am hoping to have a resolution from them soon.
If you don’t mind me asking, where did you purchase these carbon fiber side vents at? I seen many of them on eBay, but they looked differently than yours. Where did you get them at?
thanks 😊

I have a version of these and ended up ordering a set of motorcycle windscreen bolts and nuts that are surrounded by rubber to prevent them from rattling loose and don't need lock nuts. This was also because I snapped all my clips.

These might allow you some wiggle room.
I have the same vents and ran into the issue as you. The outer frame doesn't seat as nice as OEM obviously. The OEM clips don't have enough length to clear both frames and the body. I ended up just using zip ties for the inner frame and screwed the outer to the inner frame as designed. They hold well enough, and there is no rattle that I can hear, and easily reversible
