Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi I'm looking for a recommendation for an obd tool that definitely allows the abs module to be bled on a 996 turbo. I've seen some mention of foxwell nt530 and icarsoft devices, but no confirmation that they will control the abs module. Not looking to spend a fortune, but at the same time don't mind an investment.

POST 2Original post

I've have the Foxwell NT530 and it does do the ABS bleed. I've not used it yet but I'll take a photo if you wish?

POST 3Original post

Here's an article I kept for future ref How do I trigger the ABS module with Foxwell NT530? - Rennlist - Porsche Discussion Forums 987 Forum - How do I trigger the ABS module with Foxwell NT530? - Using it on a 987.1 can anyone post the Foxwell NT530 steps to trigger the ABS module for a brake fluid change. I'm going to a different racing fluid which is why I'd like to get this new fluid in the ABS module. rennlist.com

POST 4Original post

I’d recommend the Foxwell NT530 for general diagnostics etc. I use it across a number of car makes which is part of the appeal. It’s certainly no Piwis but does most things wvery well.

POST 5Original post

the NT530 definitely has the option, it's under "Diagnostics, Control Modules, PSM Control System, Special Functions,Bleed" Pic of the info under Bleed.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just to try and clarify, will this work for 996 model cars? I have seen posts that suggest some features work from a certain model onwards.

My understanding is yes but I've not tested it on a 996. If you're near East London you're welcome to hook it up and have a look.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ive had a quick look to try and clarify, its seems like a bit of a minefield as there appears to be many tools that are under the NT530 umbrella. NT530+ for Porsche - appears that only diagnostics are supported for 996 (assuming this means no bi-directional features) NT680 All systems - Assuming this is an upgrade over the nt530, not Porsche specific, unclear about supported features. i53BT Full systems Porsche - Looks like an android tablet based version, porsche specific, but also states only diagnostics for 996 iCarsoft POR v3.0 - digging into some slightly ambiguous docs seems to state 997 onwards are supported for bleeding only. Durametric - Appears to support abs bleed for 996 Lanuch/Topdon/Autel - These are the ones that are the biggest unknown to me, they support many cars, but each manufacturer has so many different versions of each tool it seems impossible to pin down if each one will do such a specific task for a specific version of a specific car.

If you're considering a Foxwell https://www.gendan.co.uk are the main importers. I've mailed them questions about coding previously and they've been helpful.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I went for the durametric in the end, the only tool that confirms it works before purchase.
