Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. Sport technos on a 996 4s/turbo used a 17mm spacer stock.
Leading evidence: 'Use 17mm spacer stock' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend 10mm spacers' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Agree, prior poster above is wrong recommending 10mm spacers on 41et rears.

Suggestion
However, I have to admit I have seen people who claim to be running et44 mm, 10-in rim, with a 265 on NB.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm wanting to buy a set of 997 wheels for my 2001 996 Cab base that are currently listed on Rennlist. (listing below).
I currently have the twists on but want to get something different. I'm totally confused about if these will work. I don't want to use spacers. Tires sizes on the BBS are 235 40 18 and 265 40 18. I have 225 40 18 and 265 35 18 on mine. Any help would be appreciated. I have tried to search but I'm more confused now. LOL Thanks

Thank you. I really don't want spacers. Just looking for something that will fit without them. I looked at a set of Flow One F2. Fronts have same offset of 50 but rear are offset of 65.

I have the Carerra wheels they are fairly lined up with the edge of the fender vertically maybe 13mm inside the most outer lip of the fender.. (2003 C4)
Those offsets are not going to work on a narrow body. the standard offset on a narrow body are 50 front and 65 rear. Adding space reduces the offset not increases the offset. So if you add a 10MM space to the 41 rears they will be a 29 offset and no way they will fit!. Don't ask me how I know I will just say it was an expensive mistake! With a 40 offset you will probably have problems even with rolling the fenders (I tried this) and will be very limited on tires.
The fronts should work fine.
Agree, prior poster above is wrong recommending 10mm spacers on 41et rears.
Agree you're 100% correct, adding spacers on a 996 always decreases offset, or ET.
But why wouldn't adding a 10mm spacer decrease offset by 10 mm.
41ET + 10mm spacer = 31ET... Yes...? how did you come up with 29ET, a 12mm ET decrease with a 10mm spacer..?
New math. But he's right, adding a 10 mm spacer will bring it down 10 mm. Would be difficult with a 41, maybe a 255 or 265 35. 31 wouldn't make sense unless you have a lot of camber.
Wide body offset in the rear. Will not work. Also the wrong tire sizes.
225/40R18 and 265/35R18 is stock. 996 also doesn't use TPMS. Also I have no idea what ET 41 wheels are for, unless its a typo. Maybe a cayman or something. 997 C4s wheels are 19x11 et 51, but I can't think of anything 18x10 et 41. So, basically everything about those tires/wheels seems off.
Will work. Standard narrow body size/offset for rear. A little different in front because 8.5 inches, so might want a 5 or 10 mm spacer. For example, typical front offset with 8.5 is et 40. Typical for an 8 inch wheel is 50. A small spacer isn't a big deal either way though btw. Some 996s came stock with spacers. Sport technos on a 996 4s/turbo used a 17mm spacer stock.
Ok my math was wrong. Adding a 10MM spacer to the 41 offset wheels would make them 31m offset. When I was dong the math in my head I was thinking they were 40mm offsets with a 10MM spacer so 30, then I saw that they were 41mm offsets so for whatever reason I went to 29mm rather than 31, my bad.
But most importantly the wheels won't work on a narrow body especially with spacers. It was probably 20+ years ago that I bought some wheels that were a 50MM offset on the rears and even with rolling the fenders they rubbed badly.
