Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

He and I installed Konis on his truck and my wife’s car together in his home garage when I lived in KY.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have read about the
Bilstein
range, and the varied name brand coil overs people are running. Is there anybody out there running anything else? My 20 year old vintage 987 is due for refresh parts and wondering what all is out there. My back and I are also 20 years older than when this vehicle was new. I am thinking either factory ride height or something even higher is where we need to be.
Back in my youth I tracked a hatch with rebound adjustable
Koni
sports. I scraped together the dollars, and the yellows somehow seemed to make my car MORE comfortable while also handling better. Maybe being loyal for that and going with 987 Konis is what I should be looking at.
I have read the comments trashing the Godspeed items. I would love to be able to slap on 50mm spacers with the Mono RS set. And be satisfied for $1250. That seems suspiciously too good to be a thing that can happen. In this forum there are few threads about anything other than the
Bilsteins
or the big brand coil overs. If anyone has been on 'other guys' suspension please feel free to share your experience in this thread. I think I'm needing something other than..

From what I am reading the highest ride height most coilovers go is 30mm lower than factory. I did not realize this. I guess the spacers would put that at 20mm over factory maximum ride height if the parts play nice together. Might not be a bad height to be.
Nobody using ST X? ST XA? Emotion? D2? H&R?
Koni
? Surprised how difficult it is to find any reviews on the internet.
I put Koni Orange on my 987.2 with R springs, and even lowered it it feels like a smoother ride than factory.
I would bet factory springs with those would be nice at factory height.
You could also look at an air ride system.
Your feedback matches the only other review I've read, thank you. The 987 factory units IMHO are no good and hold back what could be a much better road vehicle. From what I'm reading about the B6, they are similar to stock, but going the opposite way to where I want to be. I would love to just be able to slap on some B6's and be happy..
I enjoy when a car allows for a little weight transfer before it gets serious a little later in the stroke. Maybe this isn't the car for me.
I ordered the Special Actives. I have read up that they are the frequency selective damping "FSD" but rebranded, and un-shortened. Never heard of the FSD design before but sounds like spot on what I am after. The feedback is appreciated.
Grimes needs to get the marketing team over there to include color contrasting dust boots in every damper that goes out the door. Impressive how well it works!
Glad to hear that. Yes he set up the damper valving for my Konis some 20 odd years back.
I think there is more to the color thing for marketing than what people realize. I was happy with the B6's on my work vehicle, but I would prefer the 987 to not ride like that.
The
Ohlins
Road & Track coilovers may work well for you. These are one of the few coilovers that can be set to a stock ride height. I found them more comfortable than
Koni
Yellows on a prior car, and recently had them put on my 987. Just slightly firmer than stock with the
Ohlins
set up a tiny bit stiffer than standard.
Check with Josh at ArcFlash in Bend Oregon. They will set the
Ohlins
up with springs and valving aimed at comfort more than track.
