Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I had a trouble with the steering pump but it was just a bad connection and lost liquid and need to clean all behind the pump.

...did you change the grey valve ( Change-over valve for water cooling and air intake) sitting next to the transmission ?

The outcome of this was that I took it to a local independent who advised me that it was just a matter of replacing the sensor which he did and on the drive home the fault came back.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Thread 'temperature indicator failure still not solved'
Hi
I have a c4s from 2003.
To resume my last change on my car two month ago :
Water pump
Calorstat
Coolant Expansion vase with the level sensor
Belt and belt bearing
Drive at least 300km without problems.
I had a trouble with the steering pump but it was just a bad connection and lost liquid and need to clean all behind the pump.
After that...
After some kilometers I had the red warning light (blinking) and the needle go down (Motor Temperature).
Sometimes it stop and sometimes the problem coming again.
I saw that the day after looking for the steering pump, It was strange. The needle Temperature go up very slowly but no red warning.
If I let the car in the garage and wait, the needle go to the normal Temp. Slowly.
I change the Temp sensor on the Oil pump.
Same problem.
I put the old level coolant sensor.
Same problem.
I change the switch valve from the heat exchanger of the transmission
Same problem.
The weather is a little bit cold but last year no problem.
I have my Oil pressure who seems to be at the end of is live (saw it from a long time) and when the warning come for the Motor Temp the needle of the Oil pressure seems to be "normal".
I lost my mind with this problem :/
Anyone can help me ?
Thank you
Here a video of my problem :
I don't know, it's the only thing I didn't look :/
But after reading some informations here like on this thread :

This is turning into a difficult problem the story so far
I purchased my 2004 c4s tiptronic in Sept and the only issues I discovered on the drive home was an intermittent fault on the temp gauge which went to zero and the red warning light in the gauge would start to flash. It would also not get to normal working temperature when it was working and settle at 60 deg C.
The outcome of this was that I took it to a local independent who advised me that it was just a matter of replacing the sensor which he did and on the drive home the fault came back. I took it back and he fitted a new level...

I think I maybe have something disconnect or broken connection somewhere. But I don't really understand where it is :/
...did you change the grey valve ( Change-over valve for water cooling and air intake) sitting next to the transmission ? This is the likely part to change or the temp sensor on the side of the oil pump...osr of car
...I suspect it will be this part that is faulty as it was for me .
Applying voltage will make it click if working but given the low price I'd just fit a new one as I'm pretty confident that this will resolve your issue
