Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

It seems that after I use the wiper, it won't return to its proper resting position (vertical).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The Targa has been mine for four weeks now. I've been meaning to post questions to other Targa owners regarding squeaks but I haven't had any time to actually attack the problem anyway so I procrastinated... I spent half an hour 'exploring' yesterday and miraculously all the squeaking seems to have stopped. Here's what I did: 1) Removed the rear panel (vertical) that covers the wiper motor, latch, etc, just to look around. Replaced it when finished. 2) Ensured that the wiper pin was properly seated in the rotor 2) Manually slid up my broken 'track curtain' (the screen that hides the frame of the car and the track that the top slides on). The tab that fastens it to the tauna cover bar seems broken and it was stuck in the low position, retracted in behind the rear panel. I haven't opened the top yet as I'm afraid of jamming the curtain (so I won't do so until I have time to fix it, as required). I'm guessing that either one of the clips on the panel was the squeak culprit, or the retracted curtain and power cable were bouncing up and down. So, now I need to order what ever parts will permanently fix and fasten this curtain to the tauna cover. I'll tackle this over the winter but would appreciate some insight if anyone has experience with the brackets and tabs in question. Problem: This curtain (driver's side) has come part way out of the track. It doesn't seem possible to jam it back in so I may have to disassemble/remove the plastic molding that forms the groove. Anyone know how much work is involved with this? I couldn't see any fasteneners that hold the molding in place when I removed the rear panel. Would I have to remove the wiper motor to access fasteners on the molding? Many thanks for any insight. Geoff

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was wrong about the noise source. It is/was the the rear wiper rotor. It seems that after I use the wiper, it won't return to its proper resting position (vertical). It stalls on a slight inward angle. In this position, it makes a hideous squeaking noise over every bump. I can't understand what's happening. The pin appears to be engaged properly and the wiper works. Yet, with the rear glass lifted i can reposition the wiper and the pin still drops into place. (???)

POST 3Original post

Nine years later I am resurrecting this as I have the exact same issue. Any tips on how to tighten it up?

POST 4Original post

Bumping this again in the hopes someone might know. OP hasn't been on Rennlist in nine years. Post #2 describes my issue.
