I had intermediate headlights and pulled then cleaned the switch... no more issues.

Suspected cause
In my experience it’s more likely the headlight switch.

I am having a hard time finding the daytime running light relay.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My 2002 996 Carrera 4C drivers side daytime light is not working, which means that the rear drivers side night time running is not working. I figured that the problem is the daytime running light relay is bad and needs to be replaced. I am having a hard time finding the daytime running light relay. Does anyone have any advice?

This switch is a known failure point.
good luck
When I replaced mine, I just googled the part number. If all else fails, the dealership should be able to get it. My experience has been their prices aren't all that bad.
DRL relay part number is
996.615.111.00 per another old thread here...
Special order part from Pelican:
https://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin...996.615.111.00
It's $175 - so you might want to test your existing relay before busting out the credit card.
I had a problem where the DRL for the taillights on one side wasn't working. I was able to pull the relay and resolder the points on the board and now it works. Coincidentally I do have an extra relay sitting in the basement that was confirmed working if you're interested, assuming you have a Canadian car.
Come on man! Of course I have been outside of it, I just didn't live there or any other province/state so I don't know what the rules are for mandatory DRLs.
I can't answer this question but I know that if you jump a couple fuses in the fuse panels, the headlight will automatically come on without a relay when the ignition is on. I did this when I had to federalize my US car. As soon as it passed the test I pulled the jumper wire to save the headlight lenses from turning even more yellow.
You indicated that no one checks this. I asked about Nova Scotia. They are checked there. In fact, I attached a link to the rules for Nova Scotia. Had you opened it, you would see that all vehicles (unless registered as antique) must operate with lights on during the daytime, regardless of whether they were built that way.
For what it's worth, Canada, as a country, has required DRL on all vehicles manufactured after 1990.
I was only talking about where I live, in Ontario. I'm telling you, after the car is sold as new or imported and federalized in ONTARIO, on one cares if you have a working DRL or not. I have flipped cars since the early 90's as a hobby, no one ever had issues with the DRL when the cars were getting the safety inspection done as part of the sale. Maybe the Highway Traffic Act states that you have to have a working DRL all the time and that's a possibility but no one enforces it.
In case you haven't noticed - I'm messing with you.
You are very opinionated, and sometimes it's easy to take what you say to task.
The fact that Nova Scotia has taken this to such a level is, in my opinion, silly. Maybe it's frequently foggy there, and some drivers aren't smart enough to drive with their lights on. Did they had to make it a law? Is it enforced? I have no idea. I don't live there, either.
No one answered which lights come on if you buy that $140 relay from pelican parts...which one guys?
And can I just buy that relay and plug it in on my US spec 03?
If you look at a later thread in this forum, there’s a link to a hack for US spec cars,
https://web.archive.org/web/20080729...ster/mods/drl/
.
IIRC, this activates the parking lights, which I think are too dim to be useful as DRLs even with brighter LEDs. I’m wondering if the same hack could be used with the fog lights, I.e., jumping a different fuse?? Anyone tried it?
