Well, all's well that ends well; the 996 was due it's major service anyway so booked in with Johnny at unit eleven who did me proud and properly skinned his knuckles replacing all the coil packs while new spark plugs went in.

Hi all, it's been a really long time since I was on the site and the 996 has been doing very few miles over the last few years for various personal reasons but jumped in her tonight and fired up as normal only to be greeted with a check engine light and slightly rough idle which cleared up after a short time but nursed it 20 miles home till I plugged it in and checked codes ; emissions related misfire on 2 and 6, the fuel vent error has been there years still haven't fixed it, it was low on fuel, the light came on as I got home.

Outcome qualification: Negation, uncertainty or missing explicit repair resolution overrides the raw extraction signal.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

What does all mean? Cleared the codes and I'll fill up with fresh fuel tomorrow and see if they come back again

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

1/2 a tank of fresh fuel, clear codes and a 20mile run and it's just down to the misfire cylinder 2 emissions related codes so I guess that's better, I'm guessing old fuel and/ or coil packs/plugs ? Seems to run okay, any thoughts?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, all's well that ends well; the 996 was due it's major service anyway so booked in with Johnny at unit eleven who did me proud and properly skinned his knuckles replacing all the coil packs while new spark plugs went in. They coils that came out looked absolutely fine, not a crack on any of them and sparks all good that came out too but now with fresh coils it's back up to it's full compliment of cylinders firing and no further EML so we are all good.. just another small list of repairs to do after the inspection, oh well it's worth it..
