Very nice build and some on this forum dont get it but I suspect would if they were given the opportunity to drive an FSI powered car.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
36 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

I had planned a build thread for my Flat 6 Innovation Stage 2 build when I received it, but there were several members here posting unwarranted (IMHO) derogatory attacks of Flat 6 Innovations and LN engineering that I decided it was not worth the hassle. (I wrote up a long post but never submitted it)
But in case anyone is interested in my build experience or my new engine, here's 3 videos that have come out since I received my car back from Flat 6 Innovations in January that show my car:

If you hate FSI, LN Engineering, my engine rebuild or my mods, then that's fine.
But there's no reason to attack any of the above.
I'm happy with my engine, the price I spent, and the HP & torque.
Could I have gotten more HP by LS swapping it, yes.
But I didn't want a bastard 996 for this build.
I could also have sold my 996 and bought an X and built something with more HP for less.
But when I drive my 996, I REALLY enjoy the sound and torque and handling.
For those of you who hate my headlight covers, I'm back to standard 996.2 lights, so no need to complain about the covers.
Since 996 lights are the easiest to swap out, I can switch back to my headlight with the covers in 10 minutes.
I like changing the look of my car often so I don't get bored.
Like it or not, this is MY 996.2.
Bill I love them and please don’t allow others to dictate how you should feel about a fabulous build on an iconic car
please keep it coming and humming
Tex, I do hope you post as much as you can about the rebuild. The majority of Rennlisters would love to hear about it. Those that have a personality conflict with any vendor can ignore the posts.
Always rewarding when the end results meet or exceed expectations . As you know I drove your car to break it in after the engine was installed . Nice tight car that drove great . Have fun and she will continue to get better as you add miles . Take care .
Yes please on the FSI built thread. I do love the idea of a bullet proof M96 engine other than the venerable Mezger and I find we need more exposure to these desirable builds.
Congrats man, on a killer car/engine. I'm loving my FSI motor after 2 years and 12k miles. I felt the same as you. Could I have gotten a newer car for the $ I spent? Sure. But every time I take it out my girlfriend always comments how much better it sounds than a new one. She ain't wrong.

Soul headers, Soul sport cats and Fabspeed Maxflo mufflers
She's feeling better now with 1500 miles.
I haven't gotten to drive much lately due to illness, but I'll add a bunch more miles as soon as I can.
Yes, I could have a 996 turbo with how much I've spent on mine.(body/suspension/interior/engine, etc)
But then it would be just another 996 turbo instead of what I currently have, a 1 of a kind 996 that I built/assembled.
I like how mine looks, feels, and performs, and I like that there aren't any in the Houston area that look just like it.
I'm with ya there, brother. I've enjoyed replacing the suspension with Elephant Racing GT3 level stuff and the resulting ride. Looks like a stock, low optioned C2, but with *much* better torque and HP along with handling like it's on rails. Sooo much fun to drive up to wine country (I'm in NorCal) or to Tahoe in the summer.
Very nice build and some on this forum dont get it but I suspect would if they were given the opportunity to drive an FSI powered car.
Mine is a 3.8 Stage II Track Performer, elective rebuild and after 10,000 miles is even stronger than when I picked it up, so just keep driving it and your appreciation for the engine in your car will only increase.
I also utilized a set of Soul Performance headers but added a Cargraphic exhaust and love the result.
well done my friend, I see yogi is probably giving you some tips. Keep the thread going. Im going to go see a cayman R with an FSI 4.2 liter engine. Ill keep you posted on that car.
No doubt.
Heck a well cared for oem m96 can last a good long time with tremendous output and durability. Add to it a rebuild that addresses all the issues we discuss here on RL with a choice in performance packages for your 996. What's not to love?
I know that one. The prior owner passed away suddenly one evening just after returning from a drive in the car. From what Ive been told he bought several engines from FSI and even one of Jakes personal vehicles called a Pinzgauer.
That car ate 3 different PDK transmissions between the time the 4.2 was completed and he passed away. Im not sure if they ever found an updated way to hold the power. The widow sold the car at about the same time that I started my LN/ FSI adventure and I havent heard anything else.
Glad to see and hear about your experience, and you are enjoying the new motor! I look forward to your continued posts about your car journey. I completely agree with you about the FSI experience. My track horse has been at FSI getting a refresh and it is close to being completed. Jake, Jud and his team at FSI provide an unique and extraordinary service. I'm looking forward to getting my paws back on it and taking it back on track in anger!!
Flat 6 Innovations is great and dont let anyone trying to disuade your opinion! The majority of the complainers typically have not done business with them, they just dont think its a valuble investment, thats OK. I had a great experience getting my Street Performer done and when I ever have a question I get extremely quick responses from Jud for anything I have needed! They are the best!
I don't know of a single complainant that has been an FSI purchaser. I only talk to those who are overly pleased with the service that they have received. At my old job I dealt with more complaints than praises, but that stopped when I arrived here. This place has been a 180 to everything I have seen throughout the automotive industry.
With only 7 engines left before the old program is secured, I can't wait to see how things will progress for the future
@501Max
I heard your beast yesterday. The exhaust testing will be interesting next week, to say the least. An integrated X pipe, who'd ever think of something like that, except the guy that thinks different than everyone else..
