Suggestion
- after market exhaust (and no mention of original being available) will put off buyers - impacting insurance and precluding purchase of a Porsche extended warranty as it won't pass the OPC check (I'm open to correction on this point!)

I wanted led's ( just like the look) and would prefer carbon trim and didn't want a cage but after looking at one in a showroom thought it added something to the driving experience for me to smile about so discounted this one although been on for a while so probably a deal there (aren't options so subjective)

Ive just checked the used car market and was surprised to see such a huge rise compared to this time last year!
I have a 991.2 GT3 - do we think prices will continue to rise or is this the best time to sell?
Looking to get into a performante

The recent price rises on Porsche GT3/RSs are a phenomenon IMO and probably unsustainable in the medium to long term. There is currently a lot of free Government money flying around coupled with the recent 12 months of exile resulting in increased spending power. There will come a day of reckoning in a year or so when we realise the full implications of the enormous public debt accrued through the Covid crisis.
Probably as good a time as any to switch from a 991.2GT3 to a Performante IMO. Great choice of car BTW.
Blink twice and they will be half a mil
I know the UK is a separate market, but overall they built a lot of 991 GT/RS/Edition Cars, so while I don’t think they will depreciate to 60k like the 996/997 any time soon, I also don’t think they will be 150-200k cars forever - a lot of choice at that price point for weekend toys

The current car market is a bit odd ,shortages of stock for certain cars has led to an increase in value .
The 991.2gt3 will maintain its value for a while ,you can’t buy a 992gt3 unless you pay overs and overs on cars at 150k list will mean a big price gap .A 991 at 130k looks good value vs a 992 at say 180k.

All of that. Just bare in mind that the Performante will also have a falsely inflated price at the moment and may take even more of a hit when the financial impact penny finally drops.

Or, going out in a blaze of glory.
Virtually
everything
is up in value at the moment - sudden post-lockdown spending appetite, Springtime and no holidays this year.
Buy a car or spend it on the house or garden.
Not sure how long it will last though, but good if it boosts economic confidence.
Was torn between huracan rwd and gt3. Have 991.2 gts atm and had an r8 610 before. The gts is so much more enjoyable to be in and drive than the r8, although not as much of an event. Maybe some of this due to the 4wd. So gone for a gt3. I just know after a month the lambos glitz will have worn off and I will be 20k poorer.
Re the performante, have you considered gt3rs?

Just for note, I have recently gone that direction. Had a 991.2 GT3 Manual, now a Huracan LP580-2 (rear wheel drive). After 3 months I really can say such different cars. GT3 will be much better on track, Huracan completely different on the road, more of an event. I have factory Race exhaust on, so I don't have to be going too fast for a lot of drama > Negative is the amount of attention, but I knew this coming in. Very different cars, so far I certainly don't regret the change, its a car I actually do get up early to just drive when roads quieter.
Cool. Let us know how you get on. Just got a gt3 4.0 in miami from Bolton. Was looking at a black huracan in bristol too- good guys there btw. Really was a difficult choice.
Waiting to be delivered next week. Just what I was looking for. Enjoyed the drive of the gts more than r8, but noise in the r8 was die for
Re the attention, found the r8 tiring after a while. People videoing and following me. Imagined huracan to be worse. But the looks and sound are immense.
And regards depreciation and debt, that will affect all assets. All cars, lsmbo, gt3 etc will all depreciate. Point is for me enjoy them while you can.

I sold my gallardo spider because the attention was overwhelming ,if you don’t enjoy such attention I would avoid a lambo .
As predicted last Autumn car prices up across the board from vanilla to high end. So a repeat of last year driven by furlough affluence etc but with several differences this time mainly severely restricted used and new stock the latter partly caused by componentry problems.
Big delays in lead times also causing big price increases used.
But other things also are driving late GT3 prices mainly to do with the 992 most cars of which will not be landing in the UK until next year especially manuals. This together with rather marmite aspects of the new car same engine and large price hike of around 16% means many see the 991.2 as the more usable sweetspot evidenced by only 1 used OPC car left the other day being a PDK comfort at £145k approaching £30k over list ££.
Prices will inevitably rise further on proper spec cars this year due to increasing demand but where they settle next year remains to be seen but a repeat of the 981 GT4 price increase is anticipated with even 5 year old+ good spec cars still selling over list ££ retail.
Looking for a 996 or 997 GT3 currently and there does seem to be fewer around than a month or so ago.
Its a minefield to buy, crash damage, Rev ranges plus general wear and tear on a 20+ year old car!

On the other hand they could well be £100k by Christmas again....as some 'experts' so infamously catastrophically incorrectly predicted last year....oh wait....
Edited by av185 on Saturday 1st May 19:27
Yes, the GT cars are a cult within the cult that is Porsche. They have a massive following as proven by strong values across all iterations. Increased usability with the 991 generation has only served to strengthen demand yet further. And if, as appears to be the case, the 992 returns to be even more hardcore I don't see demand waning until legislation literally drives us off the road.

Hope all is well. Have had nearly 6 years in Mclarens now and fancy something manual.
I nearly bought a 997 GT3 last week but it wasn't the right car. I think Im too fussy with colours. Would also consider a nice 996 GT3.
evodarren said:
What colour do you fancy Lee
Red would be first choice. Yellow or Black would also be nice. Would consider white also if a nice car.
Seeing a black car later this week, fingers crossed!
evodarren said:

Have you done the Mclaren thing now
Would look at both.
Yes done the Mclaren thing, after 36k miles across 2 cars that have been brilliant my driving requirements have changed. I want something that is raw and cheaper on consumables for track days. Have Anglesey booked so trying to find something suitable.
We should start to see more GT3 coming to marker at people trade into the new one.
The market is crazy now- best example of that is the Manual crayon GT3 with RPM. Someone bought it in early March for £135k. Did a road trip, stuck a few thousand miles on it (+ 1 owner on log book)- its now listed back with RPM 6 weeks later for £140k! Would take a mug to buy it i think.

hey are fairly cheap to run. And you realy have to work at a GT3 , but so rewarding.Plus on the road just enough power to enjoy whithout scary tourself.
And the two 991.2 GT3’s at OPC’s are both Comfort Spec PDK’s at £145k. Not even the most ardent Porsche/GT3 fanboy saw this coming.
World has gone mad !

Yep both steel braked cars too one is 2017 reg with marmite Miami internal trim in fact the other GTS comfort has just been increased £2k to £146500 which reflects the obvious huge demand for and short supply of these cars even with these specs.

The comfort spec cars have done much better than with gen 1 because relatively few were bought .
When there were 20+ Cars for sale there was only ever 1 or 2 comfort specs in there.

Rs cars haven’t been moving for a long while ,I think we were discussing this around last November time ,many of the cars for sale then are still for sale now ,

Good point F.
Couple of Yorkshire specialists had red comfort PDKs last Autumn? which sold quickly mid £140ks.
Edit: just noticed that April 2018 PDK GT Silver comfort has had 5 owners lol.

Looks about right at £155k 18 18 5k miler CS manual in Crayon 1 owner decent spec.
I was looking for a good spec manual gt3, they seem 15k up on this time last year. Im buying on pop and thanks to the ballon not changing the price difference between a gt3 and new Lambo huracan eco red is fairly insignificant. So I ordered the new Lambo, couldn't order a new gt3! Hopefully prices will soften next year and I can pick a manual gt3 up then!
For those that are interested, a small update on 991.2 GT3 values. (I know, much MUCH less important than actually enjoying and driving).
I sold my .2 GT3 last week. Guards, manual, cs, steels. Bought with 5800 miles for 128k in March this year.
Sold to Mid Sussex for 133k with ca. 11300 miles. They sold it after two days - was up for 147,500. No idea how much it sold for, but they obviously don't discount much.
Obviously the whole used market is nuts, but this is just as a point of reference.
Also, it was on with a specialist for over a month at just under £143k - with a recent major service and > 2 years Porsche warranty. Interesting contrast.
Selling through an OPC much easier, at least in this case.
I sold my 991.2 C2S last week as values were strong, and have just put down a deposit on a gen-2 manual GT3. I know i'm buying at the top but life is too short. That engine is worth every penny as far as i'm concerned.
Can't wait !!

Porsche offering a GFV of c.£70k after 3.5Y from about £140k today.
Typically conservative and best effort to extract as much money from you as possible, as soon as possible.
Overall a balance of risk though.

Porsches GFVs on GT cars has always been broadly meaningless.
Values and residuals of 991.1 GT3s 981 GT4s and Spyders confirms this.
991.2 GT3 obviously seen by many as the pre gpf sweetspot with same engine and relative performance as the 992 and values of proper spec cars will consequently hold up accordingly reflecting this.

My thoughts are that they don’t need to take any risk on GFV to sell GT Porsche’s so they will only do so where they know there’s no risk for them.

That’s where my vote would go, RPM excellent reputation, Lava Orange a bit marmite though. Had a 991.RS in Lava, overcasts days it looked Orange sunny days looked Salmon.
thanks for this one as well and it was the lava colour that put me off as you say it changes colour and I've seen one that looked fabulous and again another in a different light that just didn't and this had higher mileage and i am intending to drive it not as a daily as i work from home but just to enjoy although I know my skills are poor so trackless driving for me but i live in the vicinity of a lot of country roads so happy days ahead hopefully !

That's my car, cracking motor, just moving it on as I have had it a couple of years and fancy a change. Personally I love the LO, just sits so well with the black trim.

did look at this one (from my computer screen) '+' lower miles, porsche warranty, younger, cruise, reversing camera '-' no cage, silver trim, no leds's .... I wanted led's ( just like the look) and would prefer carbon trim and didn't want a cage but after looking at one in a showroom thought it added something to the driving experience for me to smile about so discounted this one although been on for a while so probably a deal there (aren't options so subjective)

I'll be down at Belfast OPC tomorrow morning - if anyone wants more photos let me know. I saw the car at a cars and coffee event weekend before last and thought it looked quite smart.

992 GT3 Touring, Looks a great deal for someone. Due a service

Fair value for someone, but not for me. I would suggest the following has impacted the hammer price :
- buyers premium £7,200
- relatively high mileage for a GT3
- after market exhaust (and no mention of original being available) will put off buyers - impacting insurance and precluding purchase of a Porsche extended warranty as it won't pass the OPC check (I'm open to correction on this point!)
- first service just about pushed it out all the way to the 12,000 mile maximum service interval. (previous comment about being late deleted)
- major service due £££. 10,000 miles since last service / oil change. Considering the GT3 oil change (~4 litres) is effectively a 50% dilution, I wouldn't consider this to be a well loved example.
- centre locks are a mess
- needs new tyres

That’s been for sale for ages
Someones lost c £20k min on that car in less than 12 months which was last sold in July 2024 for £166200
Rubystar one is nice, It been for sale for months on FB groups too. Seems reasonably priced but as a buyer it would put me off seeing how hard it has been to shift.

Was offered on motorway about a month ago, reserve was significantly lower than the current AT price. It had several bids by all accounts, don't know how close they got to reserve, but needless to say it didn't sell. Seller might be better adhering to the old adage “your first loss is your best loss".
That’s a very good point. It might be better with some Black Motorsport Decals and Carbon Roof Wrap. Also not sure it has Carbon Brakes, so £135k is probably the right number for a Marmite Colour.

Is the price gap between 991.2 and 992 closing, and how will the two track as the 991.2 ages? A good 991.2 is not so easy to find, and there are plenty of 992s around.
Feel for the owner….how not to sell a car.
We had a Ruby 718 Boxster a few years ago we ordered new (before the PTS price Porsche charges went bananas)…worked well on that car because the black roof broke the colour up. I think for a lot of people it’s too much on a car that’s conspicuous anyway. I’ve got a Lava Orange 991.2 GT3 which whilst its not pink is a bright colour !

Sure does look stunning, i recall seeing it has 8 previous owners. Would this be seen as an issue with GT3's? Thats a lot of hands its passed through.
just over one owner each year, seems fine. mileage makes sense for that. buy car, use for road trip, some track days, move it on for new toy following year .. pretty common. never really understand why # owners is a concern.

because if its a car I intend to keep for 4-5 years I will maintain it to the highest standard
I have seen some expensive cars owned for brief periods and they aren't serviced correctly drivein sympathetically or looked after (the former is reatively easy to check of course)
no knowledge of this car and it looks stunning

Agree with you. Two out of the four services have been done late on this car

But they are only 3 or 4 months late - could be many circumstances as to why eg the second one is during the year of covid lockdowns.

I agree to an extent but unfortunately when it comes to moving the car on with 9 owners whilst it doesn't concern many I am sure a dealer at trade-in or buyers would value it accordingly.

I drive some of my cars rather infrequently. It can easily happen that when I use them again, I realise that it should have gone for a service in the meantime. My OPC does not think that this is an issue and extended warranty never questioned
I think I am the 7th or so owner of my car.
OPC said the first owner bought the car back from the 2nd owner, as he missed it.
Servicing looks on time and I have had the car over 3 years now and getting towards doubling the mileage and it has been perfect (touch wood), with the OPC saying car is perfect when it has been serviced.
Maybe I should have haggled more when I bought it for top dollar, but hopefully, when I come to sell, they will see how long it has been with me and less significance will be placed on number of previous owners, as these cars were flipped when young for a profit.
