I just returned from my dealership in West Palm Beach. I picked up a printed copy of my order form. I questioned the salesman about the 18' 987S Wheel option on my order. He said I told him I wanted the 18' wheels shown in the Cayman brochure and the 18' wheels shown in the brochure are the 987S option. Based on other threads on this board I thought the 987S option was the standard wheel on the Boxter S. The salesman said the standard wheel on the Cayman is the same standard wheel as shown on the Boxter S, and the wheel in the brochure is the 987S option. I told him I wanted the 18' wheel in the brochure and my order should include whatever got me that wheel, so I am covered. Any feedback from you knowledgable guys would be appreciated. The configurator indicates I am right and the salesman is wrong. I hate it when that happens.
You do not want the 987S wheel option, you are asking for the standard Cayman 18" wheels. If I understand your email correctly, he is wrong.
Your salesperson is wrong, the configurator is right (for a change). Either way sounds like you are covered, but maybe not a bad idea to sit down with your sales guy and the configurator and run through it with him and show him first hand what you want and what Porsche is showing.
The standard wheel is the one you want, the 18' five spoke
CaymanS
. You do not want the 987S wheel. Your order should not specify any wheel option.
In the UK, the default option is the 5-spoke 18' wheels in the brochure, definitely not the ones that are standard on the Boxster S (these are a cost option on the
Cayman S
, oddly....)
So everyone appears to be correct, apart from your salesperson!
As always you guys are on top of it and I appreciate your feedback. I am back to the dealership today.
When you go, ask them if they want to advertise here, also let them know we are a good source of information so if their sales people need training... /fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/tounge_smile.gif
