Question is should it be replaced with a 'standard' clutch which is supposed to cover cars from 420 - 480bhp or pay an extra £250 for an uprated kit (600bhp)?

Which Clutch?

Use lot of throttle in 3rd or 4th

Suggestion · Original poster

The car was remapped last year and will be around 480- 500bhp, occasionally the clutch will slip when using a lot of throttle in 3rd or 4th - but then re-engages and all is fine.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am considering replacing the clutch on my 2002 996 TT, it has done 69K & on it's first clutch. The car was remapped last year and will be around 480- 500bhp, occasionally the clutch will slip when using a lot of throttle in 3rd or 4th - but then re-engages and all is fine. I used it at Knockhill PCGB track day last April & was faultless. Question is should it be replaced with a 'standard' clutch which is supposed to cover cars from 420 - 480bhp or pay an extra £250 for an uprated kit (600bhp)? Apart from the extra cost there is likely to be a heavier pedal? (the only other mods are Europipe exhaust silencers with 100 cell cats plus Forge diverters) Any one any experience or advice on this one? Thanks, Stephen

POST 2Original post

If my memory is correct, Porsche are now only supplying the uprated GT2 clutch as standard. Worth checking by ringing an OPC as this would be more than good enough for your requiring
