Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I always insist that they use a torque wrench rather than an air thingy in order to avoid bald nuts.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Outcome without a verified action link

I got one from them years ago that worked well with the black wheels nuts which I had at the time.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does anyone know if there is a socket available which has some sort of inner 'soft' layer which won't chew up my nuts when I use it to take my wheels off? Cheers!

POST 2Original post

You could try an impact driver socket. These are formed in a soft material to avoid shatter and are dull blue/black in colour. Wrap electrical tape around the outside to save wheel finish. Hope this helps. Regards, Clive

POST 3Original post

Try PORSCH-APART - details in PP. I got one from them years ago that worked well with the black wheels nuts which I had at the time. About £25 I think - expensive but well worth it.

POST 4Original post

do a search on ebay for wheel nut socket , you'll find loads of different kinds starting at about £10 if i remember right.with various inserts etc to protect the nuts.

POST 5Original post

Most Porsche accessory suppliers such as Porscheshop, Design911, Type911 et al sell a "softsocket" for your nuts which is a 24mm deep socket lined with a nylon or soft aluminium insert. Word of caution when buying new tyres.... The mouth breathing nut jocket saunters over, relieves you of your soft socket, snicks it onto his air wrench and whips off your nuts. He will later hand you back your socket with a completely mangled insert. Ask me how I know[ ][ ][ ]
