Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I used a kit from Pelican and installed an Oddessy battery.
Leading evidence: 'Install oddessy battery' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Install oddessy battery' (1 discussions). Suggestion
NAV to replace the pathetic stock CDR30, that if I was listening to music and needed to start the engine, the head-unit would do a cold-start reboot.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello everyone, now a
battery
question.
I took out my old, dead
battery
and showed it at autozone. They said it’s impossible to recharge (was like 1V). They offered the
battery
that I attach below. Would you purchase that
Duralast
? Is it a good
battery
for the car?
I know nothing about the subject. For comparison I attach the photo of my old
battery
.
Much appreciated!
Damian
Are you a Costco member? You can buy a proper fitting Interstate for less money than that unless you want to have an
AGM battery
for some reason, (glass mat instead of lead cells and sulfuric acid) Interstate offers the same warranty.
You MUST get the
PORSCHE
branded
battery
, otherwise your car will explode!!!!! (I actually have a friend who owns a 991 somewhat believes this and I tell him he must get electricity from Germany / Stuttgart to maintain his
battery
, otherwise his car won't start
)
Joking aside, some options for you as I went through the same process last week:
1. A friend (
987.1
BS) recently "upgraded" to a bigger H8
battery
-
AC Delco 94RAGM
($169 for an AGM)
2. I was close to getting a Costco AGM one for $169 or a "regular" one - I love costco's warranty (and all our cars have interstate)
3. Consider Advance Auto's (if you have one near by) DieHard Plat lines (the price should be almost the same as Autozone) as they have 4 yr warranty (vs. 3 years in your pic) - mine was 3.5 year-old, no receipt but got a warranty replacement rather easily / quickly (of a Non-AGM, and now I am a fan
)
Replaced the
battery
in my
987.2
. 2.9 yesterday.
Costco / Interstate recommended H8
AGM
. It is definitely bigger than the old
battery
. New one is near 60 pounds.
Costco interstate
. for $169 bucks.
I had to slide a nut under the very last hole in the battery tray to fit this giant battery into the car. All other cables fit right up.
I left the ignition key IN the ignition and on a trickle charger and killed the battery. I was not sure how old the one in the car was so when it didn't charge right back up I got a new one.
I got to learn about the key release button and the hook the battery to the fuse panel trick to access it.
Research I have done indicates the 987.2 does not need to have the battery coded. Please correct me if I am wrong....
This battery ss
Porsche batteries have a hose to take any Hydrogen out of the compartment. My Interstate battery from Costco has the fitting for this hose. There will be no explosion in my Boxster because of a non-Porsche battery!
Does anyone know if the original batteries were
AGM
, or traditional Lead-Acid?
AGM
usually like just a little more charge voltage, and was wondering if it was a false economy buying an
AGM
over a traditional
battery
?
The 987.x OEM
battery
is flooded cell. Whether it is worth the small extra cost for
AGM
is debatable. I preferred
AGM
mainly due to being maintenance free and they delivered more cranking amps for starting vs the flooded model of the same size. I noticed shortly after installing a
Pioneer
NAV to replace the pathetic stock CDR30, that if I was listening to music and needed to start the engine, the head-unit would do a cold-start reboot. After switching to
AGM
, that problem went away. Since I've lived in a moderate climate for a couple decades, I don't need the extra CCA to improve starting in freezing weather, but many should consider that benefit.
Yes, I understand that the charging profile is different for
AGM
. I've heard using
AGM
on a car whose charging system is designed for flooded will prevent the
battery
from being 100% charged. But since I routinely keep my
Cayman
on a
battery
maintainer which supports
AGM
, I'm sure the
battery
will be topped-off completely.
I switched 3 yrs. ago to a Li ion
battery
and haven't looked back! Keep it on a
ctek
Li
battery
charger. It has 1800 CCAs but more importantly only 17 lbs. vs. 56 lbs. for
AGM
, so better front-to-rear wt. balance, weight saving in general, AND just so much easier to lift in/out of frunk. The charging voltage is 13.8V so the audio system even sounds "cleaner".
