I'm guessing the answer to this question is going to be pretty simple and that this is a pretty stupid question, but I like to check with those with more experience before jumping to conclusions.

I am usually very careful when I fill with oil to prevent any spills, and I clean it up if I do get a couple drops there.

If it is indeed the filler neck cap that needs replacing, I seem to recall hearing or reading somewhere that there is an updated version.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm guessing the answer to this question is going to be pretty simple and that this is a pretty stupid question, but I like to check with those with more experience before jumping to conclusions. It looks like I have fresh oil stains around the filler neck cap and my guess is that the solution is to replace the filler neck cap. I have attached an image for your reference. Possible oil stain around the filler neck. IT has looked like this for maybe 6 months now and I had been focused on other things. I just wanted to confirm that's what this looks like to you, or if this staining is normal? I am usually very careful when I fill with oil to prevent any spills, and I clean it up if I do get a couple drops there. This seems like a lot as opposed to the couple drops I rarely spill. If it is indeed the filler neck cap that needs replacing, I seem to recall hearing or reading somewhere that there is an updated version. Would anyone mind pointing me to that new model cap so I make sure I get the correct one? Any help or information is greatly appreciated, thanks for reading!

It looks like this, part #996.107.035.52. I think the yellow version works better though.
