Suggestion

From the top, it looks like it might be a pressed in stud, so I'm really hoping I can either push or drill it out and replace rather than replacing the whole subframe.

I beat mine out with a socket on the nut....since yours is gone your going to probably have to hammer it out...I'd use an air hammer punch.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Does anyone have any experience replacing the bolts/studs (I'm not sure which) that connect the rear subframe to the diagonal brace? I just broke one (the far rearward one) when my torque wrench failed to indicate. From the top, it looks like it might be a pressed in stud, so I'm really hoping I can either push or drill it out and replace rather than replacing the whole subframe. Thanks in advance for any insight.

POST 2Original post

Just drive it out and replace it. When you do a Pedro bar you drive some of these out and replace with an appropriate bolt. I beat mine out with a socket on the nut....since yours is gone your going to probably have to hammer it out...I'd use an air hammer punch.

POST 3Original post

Thanks for your response. I'll get after it with a punch and big hammer.

POST 4Original post

In order to punch out the stud, first watch the video that Pedro has produced for those purchasing his Pedro Bar . His method makes removing the stud like a walk in the park. And the installation of the Pedro Bar is simple for most wrenchers. His website has a link to the vid. I plan on adding one to my ride.
