I want to get my car ready for this year’s track season. I got this car last November and i have done all of the work on the “ Porche Major Maintenancy Checklist.” I have seen on some videos that recommend changing out the oil pan, Does anyone have experience with that? I will be getting rims and
tires
for the car. Can anyone recommend a good set of track rims? I had a
Miata
NB and tracked that for three years. I just got this
Cayman
last November and Im looking forward to getting it to the track. Any recommendations I would appreciate.
Apex and Titan both make great wheels for Porsches.
in terms of the oil pan, some folks with the
987.1
get a deep sump to help with oil management during hard G turns.
Thank you these are the last two things I have to do to have the car ready.
I just came across 18”
OZ
Alleggerita rims does anyone have experience with these wheels? Are they good? Im supposed to pick them up on Tuesday. Yes? NO?
Great wheels… running mine for many years. Light and look good on car
Deep sump, under drive pulley: belt and
GT3
master cylinder
/ race pads and you will have gotten your car in a fairly safe sweet spot for performance and engine reliability.
I ended up putting it off but I think I will get the wheels this week. I need to do the Oil pan and change the
tires
on the car. I have until April 22 so no hurry.
So there are two product I am looking at. One is from
Pelican parts
and it is Bilt Racing Service Engine Oil Deep sump Kit ( two quart deep sump extension. This Kit is is $1031.00
The other is from FP Euro: Porche Deep Sump Oil Pan Kit-
LN Engineering
. This one is $1444.00
Both kits increase capacity by two quarts and they seem pretty much the exact same Im trying to see why the
FCP Euro
is $400 bucks more.
Can you see anything im not seeing?
I went to deep pan, cool but not necessary. I don't see anyone talking about power steering problems. Adding an extra cooler is good idea but all really need to do open the engine compartment after every event and top off the fluid. That's it but don't do it and you will be replacing the rack, lines and pump. It was $2500 when my 06 BS did it. Probably $5K now.
