Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hi all, I am looking to refresh the suspension on my 112 K-mile Boxster S (2006). The local dealership quoted me for all the parts I would need, and I noticed that control arms are pricey. I'm typically a believer in OEM parts, especially with Chinese knock-offs seemingly flooding the market. But, in the rear alone, the "Coffin" and lateral arms come out to $2400. The same parts are almost $1500 less if I use Meyle , instead of Porsche . Online reviews seem good, but I would love to hear from anyone who has used their products. Does anyone have any issues or complaints if you are using Meyle ? For reference, here are the part numbers the dealer provided: 997-331-045-05 Rear Lateral Rod 981-331-053-02 Control Arm 987-331-043-04 Lateral Arm Thanks!

POST 2Original post

No reason to buy Porsche parts afterall Porsche doesn't make their own parts and Meyle is a common alternative. I'll also add that although some Chinese parts don't have the best reputation the Chinese are making much more competitive and quality products.

POST 3Original post

Meyle is an OE supplier to BMW . I purchased suspension parts from a secondary source labeled " Meyle ," but I could see the BMW logo had been ground off. I suspect Porsche , in all likelihood also uses them, as noted - Porsche doesn't make all their own parts, it's more economical to farm out work to firms specializing in the part.

POST 4Original post

I had bad luck with Meyle arms on my E46 ZHP ~10 years ago. Hopefully they’ve addressed that. What does FCPEuro sell?

POST 5Original post

I had used Meyle and Lemforder on suspension components with good results, I believe that both both of these brands are OEM suppliers, you should be fine with any of these, both brands are sold by FCP Euro .

POST 6Original post

I refreshed my 07 Cayman suspension with great results using mostly Meyle components from FCP Euro . I did the front/rear control arms and steering tie rods (using Meyle "HD" components when available). Along with new Bilstein struts and Cayman R springs my car handles like new. Porsche parts would've cost at least $5,000 more for what's likely the same hardware.

POST 7Original post

I did the front suspension on my 07 S with Meyle parts from FCP Euro . Not sure I needed to do all the parts but the top hats were squeaking so I did control arms and tie rods also. I’m not a mechanic but it was one of the easier jobs I’ve done.

POST 8Original post

I like to stay with OEM parts that the car comes with unless you are racing and need upgrades. Try Pelican parts (they are now part of Rennsport I think) much cheaper than the dealers

POST 9Original post

They are quite good, would not hesitate to use if you aren't looking for adjustable LCAs.

POST 10Original post

I bought Meyle from FCP Euro and had them installed on my 07 Cayman S, they are great, I think the kits for both front and rear were ~$1,500 and they come with a lifetime replacement warranty. I do Auto Cross and have done 1 track day at Sebring, no complaints.
