Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Greetings All, I am working on my wife's 2012 Boxster seats. It has the 12 way power adjustable option. The rear of the passenger seat is in full down position, the motor runs, nothing happens. I suspect the gears are stripped in the gearbox. I have been looking for at least three hours trying to figure out how to get the seat rails off with motors attached so I can get to the thing. What am I missing? Cannot figure out where to unbolt it. Also, assuming I can get the gearbox out and apart, any ideas on where to find gears, or a complete gearbox?

POST 2Original post

Did you try the hard rock forward trick? My motor seemed to be activating but not moving the seat. It was in the far back position. You sit in the seat, apply forward switch activation and buck like you’re bull riding forward as hard as you can. Often this will release the seat and it starts working again.

POST 3Original post

Thank you for your reply. The fore and aft function is working. It's the rear height adjustment that is not. The motor turns, nothing comes out of the gearbox. I pulled the motor itself and operated the axle by hand, doesn't do anything. Only way I can see to remove the gearbox is to pull the rails off the seat. And damn if I can figure out how it attaches. Has me flummoxed for sure. You a pilot? Me too.

Yes, that’s an old profile pic of the GV. Flying a 7500 now. How about you?

Just private. Took lessons when I was 16, got my private at 19. Owned Bonanzas, Barons, Great Lakes, Vans. 70 now and slowing down. Few more years and I'm done.
