I ordered my OEM manual trans fluid and new drain and fill plugs from FCP Euro and received two 10mm hex plugs, exactly the same as used for the engine oil drain plug, but no crush washer included, nor called for.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Look through various youtube but the tranny drain plug size seems to different even with the same car (I think). Some have your "normal" hex whereas some have 16mm triple square (anti-temper). In addition, the service manual also has both types illustrated. On top of that Pelican has both types also listed. Does anyone know exactly what is the size / type for the 2005 Boxster 2.7 (MT5)? I may try to look through the hole to see (not sure I can but will try), but wanted to check before hand. Thanks!

POST 2Original post

Old thread but relevant for today. I can echo Hoster987’s remarks. After watching a dozen YouTube vids and parts searching on four or five websites I can attest that some call for a hex drive of 17mm while others dictate a 16mm triple square. I ordered my OEM manual trans fluid and new drain and fill plugs from FCP Euro and received two 10mm hex plugs, exactly the same as used for the engine oil drain plug, but no crush washer included, nor called for. Although when I got into the job found that both my drain and fill plugs were 16mm triple hex. Go figure.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
