Suggestion
When I’ve done transmission fluid changes on other cars, I’ve never used the full amount that the manual said since a little bit of the previous fluid stays in most of the time.

If it will be close, I’ll play it safe and buy the 4th bottle; but if I can save a little money on fluid I won’t end up using, I’d rather do that.

I’m getting ready to buy transmission fluid to do a fluid change on my 6MT 2012 Cayman (base). From what I’ve read, the manual transmission takes 3 liters (or about 3.17 quarts). I’m going to purchase some Redline 75W90 NS GL-5 Gear Oil, but it comes in quarts. I’m wondering if I really need to purchase a fourth quart, just for that .17 qt of oil. When I’ve done transmission fluid changes on other cars, I’ve never used the full amount that the manual said since a little bit of the previous fluid stays in most of the time. If it will be close, I’ll play it safe and buy the 4th bottle; but if I can save a little money on fluid I won’t end up using, I’d rather do that. Can anyone weigh in with their experiences?

I used the Redline on my 987.2 Cayman S with 6 speed. I initially bought 3 bottles. Then needed more. So now I have a 3/4 full bottle sitting on the shelf. 😃
