Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Pelican Parts: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

According to car buzz it is! This article brought up some curious points about how you can apparently pick up a 997 911 for a shockingly low price right now. They go on to suggest that now's the perfect time to pick up the good ones for sale before all the collectors get to them first. Do you agree with their reason why below? Thanks Luccia. Being the owner of a beautiful 2012 Carrera S (997.2) with only 22k on the odo, this is music to my ears and a lump in my wallet. 😉 Can not disagree with anything you have said. The 997 is a wonderful Porsche, with all the modern creature comforts. Mine has the power kit so it performs like a “scalded cat”. More power than is practical on US highways. Think I will hang on to it for a few more years. ❤️

POST 3Original post

I prefer my 986 with Manual trans & built 3.6 litre engine.

POST 4Original post

The inability to service/repair the PDK transmissions on these cars and ending up buying a whole unit for 20000S USD has been totally left out in this thread. Sorry, The problem is not the price of this unit, the problem is that the transmission could fail before racking up at least 200 000 km due to some mechanical or electronic issue. . I am not being greedy with average life time neither. 200000K is not much.

POST 5Original post

There is still some room to go down. They lose about 3k a year right now we will see if that changes in the comming years.

POST 6Original post

The PDK is not 20k. Last I replaced one it was around 8k with core return back to Porsche. I recommend more frequent fluid and filter changes. The filter is integrated into the pan and must be replaced as a set.
