Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
Plug changes are more expensive on the 996TT's and GT2's purely because there is more labour involved as the intercoolers have to be removed to access the plugs.
Leading evidence: 'Replace are more expensive' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace are more expensive' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

The price just to change the plugs is listed as £161 for a C2, £269 for a GT3, £456 for a TT or GT2.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Replacement of plugs is incorporated into the OPC service schedule.
Major service for TT and GT2 is £1038.00 inc spark plug change

Platinum core plugs and certainly with the older turbos, it is "easier" to drop the engine than work from above. The intercooler etc has to be removed on the 930 drive chain to get to the block. Not sure about the subsequent models but to be honest, it strikes me that everything after the 3.2 looks fairly difficult to work on.

Had the plugs changed 15 months ago at 24,000 miles (they'll be due again in 4 months time).
Major service at OPC came to around £1100 on mine (but I had a couple of minor extra things, so the figure of £1038 above sounds about right).
The spark plugs were £5.36 +VAT each (15 months ago).
So the plugs themselves are not expensive.
The engine does not need to be moved to change them (unlike some older cars), although they cost almost twice the price to change as the GT3, so the turbo plumbing does not help.
The price just to change the plugs is listed as £161 for a C2, £269 for a GT3, £456 for a TT or GT2.
Major service for a TT is listed at £538, minor at £342.
At the next service (48K), I'll get hit for an extra £75 for the fuel filter and £61 for the drive belt, on top of the £1038. I'm expecting £1200.

Plug changes are more expensive on the 996TT's and GT2's purely because there is more labour involved as the intercoolers have to be removed to access the plugs. However only an OPC could justify several hundred pounds more for undoing a few extra nuts

I have been looking into this recently and I think OPC must just charge the additional labour (to undo a few more nuts as Dave says) because they can.
I have just phoned Strasse in Leeds and they said a full major service on a TT is £545 all in, including the spark plugs. Only thing it does not include is the aux drive belt which is another £105 on top.
Any thoughts???

Just speaking with my friends at Zentrum Nottingham they reckon about £250-£300 for 6 plugs incl labour and confirmed 4 of them are easy to get at and two are difficult, hence the extra labout at about 4 hours..

I also spoke to Martin at Zentrum.
He suggested that a full service (48,000 mile) on the TT would come in at £757. This includes fuel filter, and the poly-rib belt.
Just to confirm the plugs are only done on the 48,000 mile major service and not on the 24,000 mile major service.
