Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

Apparently, the trick to this is to turn the volume up to max before disconnecting the old radio.

Suggestion

Doing it in the amp makes sense since it allows the use of a set voltage over the audio lines - high enough that there won't be noise or hiss pickup, then actually regulate the output of the amp to control the volume.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

So after purchasing an install kit that cost more than the Alpine radio that I wanted, the install is complete. Everything works but, the volume is low. I'm going to guess that is because of the extremely low impedance that the Bose system runs. Can anyone confirm this? And I'm guessing that the only way to correct this is to swap out the amp and all new speakers... Thanks and regards

POST 2Original post

Apparently, the trick to this is to turn the volume up to max before disconnecting the old radio. The volume apparently is set in the Bose amplifier , and to get full range from it - it has to be set to max. PITA to do after the installation is complete.

POST 3Original post

Is there a time limit to set it? As I'm pretty sure that step was completed.

POST 4Original post

Not that I've heard of. The issue is you have to connect the original PCM in order to set it - at MAX volume (blank station perhaps) and then shut it down so it remains at max volume. Doing it in the amp makes sense since it allows the use of a set voltage over the audio lines - high enough that there won't be noise or hiss pickup, then actually regulate the output of the amp to control the volume. Pretty sure doesn't count unless you did the install, and then it should be certainly sure.. Let us know if it helps....
