Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Pagey - there is a rather extensive DIY and review of the unit (still ongoing as I change things and resolve some issues with the manufacturer.) You can find it right below your post, or click here:

It's pretty fully featured, especially if you want it to have its own data link (4G-LTE) rather than borrowing data from your phone (by setting your phone to be a hotspot..) It also does wireless CarPlay and Android Assistant+ (AKA Android Auto).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Has anyone had experience with this model 7862 720P Auto Android 12 8G+128G Car Radio Navigation GPS Player Carplay Bluetooth Wifi For Porsche Cayman 911 987 Boxster 997| | - AliExpress

POST 2Original post

Pagey - there is a rather extensive DIY and review of the unit (still ongoing as I change things and resolve some issues with the manufacturer.) You can find it right below your post, or click here: DIY on installing an inexpensive Android radio/headunit... One note - on ordering one. The webpage on Aliexpress is rather confusing. It appears that you could buy an 8-Core 8Gb/128Gb unit from then for less than $200. That isn't actually accurate. That's the price for the one in the upper left of the grid shown on the lower right part of the page. To find one that might be useful - you have to select a model by clicking on the grid - and THEN you'll see the price. The grid will tell you some limited info on what the particular model includes. The one I selected was the 3rd one in the top row. It's pretty fully featured, especially if you want it to have its own data link (4G-LTE) rather than borrowing data from your phone (by setting your phone to be a hotspot..) It also does wireless CarPlay and Android Assistant+ (AKA Android Auto). It was $234. If I was ordering again, I might consider getting a bit more memory, just because I find I keep downloading more apps for it. I'm not reaching the limit, or even near it so far and it remains very quick and responsive feeling, but a bit more memory might come in handy sometime. It's a great toy and looks like it belongs in the car: Almost looks like Porsche installed it (boot-up screen).. see the DIY for lots more pics.

POST 3Original post

Awesome - great write up. Did the unit come with an external mic and how is the call audio quality?

POST 4Original post

No external mike, and so far I haven't found a need for one. People I talk to don't seem to realize I'm using a headunit based system, unless the top is down and I'm moving, then they describe it as sounding as if I'm in a tunnel. So - if the top is down, I pull over to talk. It's not clear an external mike would change that. The call quality at my end is excellent, and as I said - no one has commented negatively about it at the other end - except when I answered it topless and moving.
