Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

I just bought a replacement amp from ebay. Does anyone know if there is a code for the original amp? I seem to remember reading somewhere to read the code with PWIS before replacement. Has anyone replaced theirs with another ASK amp? ALLDATA is useless, once again TIA

POST 2Original post

I think it's just a "dumb" amp, there's no coding or data line to it as far as I know. Look at the wiring diagrams for the audio system.

POST 3Original post

Thanks Gubi, the wiring diagrams just show power inputs to the amp. I question it, because I have some bootleg pdf removal instructions that say to pull the codes with PWIS before replacing. I think this is bogus for info.

POST 4Original post

AFAIK, the ASK amp is a dumb amp. Did a lot of work on my 987.2 this summer on it. No codes involved for that part.

POST 5Original post

Thanks FB, nice to have it confirmed by someone who has work it.✌

POST 6Original post

Of course! Happy to help when I can. Good luck with the install.
