Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Well the entire purpose of this was to first check the trans fluid, but your comment is a good case in point, because I can NOT get the fill plug off.

You could disconnect the ends, clean them up with some fine sandpaper, cover with dielectric grease (to prevent corrosion) and re-attach.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Today is the day, first time going up on jack stands so I can check the transmission fluid. What else should I check while it's up in the air. No, I'm not going to replace the water coolr, AOS or other labor intensive things
Those are on list, and soon, but want to get past the first-lift-fears with some simple stuff. Trans fluid is likely original, and with 100k miles, checking it even if nothing else done is worth it. I'll end up replacing it just waiting on it to arrive.
My suspension was recently refreshed (struts,
drop links, bump rubber, rear sway bar links, and upper strut mounts), is there anything in terms of torque checking that would be beneficial?
I'm not super thrilled about the whole experience of going under the car, but gotta get over it. Will have safety jack+2x4 in place under engine as well as spare wheels under as additionally safety measure.
Pro tip: Remove the transmission filler plug BEFORE removing the drain plug. You don't want to drain the fluid first and then find out the filler plug can't be removed or is stripped.
Well yes, to check the level I need to remove the filler plug and stick my finger in right? I should really have got the fluid so I can just drain and refill regardless, but I want to check it first and go through the jack stand motions.
While you are under there, you can check the ground connections between the right rear frame rail and the engine. You could disconnect the ends, clean them up with some fine sandpaper, cover with dielectric grease (to prevent corrosion) and re-attach. If you have a Bentley service manual, the requisite images are on page 97-33.
Well the entire purpose of this was to first check the trans fluid, but your comment is a good case in point, because I can NOT get the fill plug off. It is not stripped, just will not budge. Have a breaker bar on a 10mm allen socket and there just isn't enough leverage or room to get it free.
Buy a replacement filler plug first! You might get it loose or strip it out while trying to remove, and then you will be out until you get a replacement.
