Suggestion

I've read several people getting the same thing when they cycle the seat all the way forward (to replace the drive belt in my case) and then return it to its original position.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hey Planet 9, Its been a while since I've posted/read items. Deployed to Africa, a few years recovery, retired, moved to the mountains of Colorado. Life in 20 words or less. I've been getting a pesky passenger's seat airbag trouble light. I've read several people getting the same thing when they cycle the seat all the way forward (to replace the drive belt in my case) and then return it to its original position. I clear the light, but it sporadically comes back. So.... is there some magic bullet to truly clear up the problem? thanks for any advice. Ed

POST 2Original post

Can also be caused by the passenger seat-back reclining too far so it hits the rear of the passenger compartment. Or anything that puts a bind on the seat geometry. When you say you clear the light - are you doing it with an OBDII tool like Durametric, PWIWS or other? Also beware that the wiring to the console warning light can cause these issues. Might be a loose connection there or under the seat.

POST 3Original post

Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware reclining the seat would cause the same issue. I have an iCarSoft CR Pro reader. It lets me look at all 19 on board systems and diagnose any issues. I spent too much money for it, but my wife has a BMW and I have a Bronco as my daily driver. The CR Pro lets me read codes on those cars as well. I've learned a pot load about my Cayman by simply going thru the various systems and see what I look at. Strangely, one of the body control modules says there is a fault in the driver's side front marker light. The light works and I believe functions properly. I took the marker light out, cleaned the electrical connections and the bulb, but I still get the BCM warning. Anyway, back on track. Thanks for the info. I appreciate it.
