I see that it is recommended for mustangs, but I like the slightly heavier weight for when the car gets hot, especially in the summer months.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am shopping around for different oils I can use both on the track and street. I See people swear by DT40, but that is not recommended for the track. I plan to track my car at least once a month, sometimes twice this season. Is Driven FR50 (5w50) a good oil for use on both track and street? I see that it is recommended for mustangs, but I like the slightly heavier weight for when the car gets hot, especially in the summer months. Can be found here: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/j...BoCjiMQAvD_BwE Anyone have experience using this? Or am I better off sticking with LiquiMoly with an additive?

POST 2Original post

Call driven and talk directly to them - they were super helpful the last time I spoke with them.

POST 3Original post

Driven DT40 for street, Driven XP9 for track Don't run XP9 for longer than the track weekend. It does not have a very long drain interval.

POST 4Original post

I use the FR50 , and have been quite happy with it. Oil pressure is good even on really hot days sitting in traffic.

POST 5Original post

I've been on FR50 for a while (street use) and have 2 cases of it in storage. I like the oil a lot. Pretty much same additive package as DT40, from what I heard Charles Navarro mention, but with 5w50 weight. I've seen better oil pressure with it as well, in my case. I did my HPDC(linic) with it in the sump and the oil temps got maybe to 230F, but it was a cool day in the 60s. I want to look into XP9 and am also curious about running Valvoline VR1 20-50. I like the weight for hot summer track temps and is formulated for track use. Best part it's easily available everywhere at a pretty good cost.
