Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

For some reason, my remote key lock is no longer working. When I press any button on the key I get a red LED flash, but no door locking...the trunks won't open either. Any ideas as to what's wrong? Thanks in advance

POST 2Original post

Look inside the car, is the red LED above the radio flashing when you hold your key down? If so then it is receiving the signal from the key, if not, it isn't receiving the signal from the key. That is the first thing to check.

POST 3Original post

Has it been more than five days since you last unlocked your car via the remote? If so, the remote key circuitry in your car has been turned off to preserve your battery . To reactivate the circuitry, use your key and turn the lock on your driver door handle and then use your key remote to open your door. If it's been less than 5 days, then the above explanation is not relevant.

POST 4Original post

Many thanks for the posts! Actually, it looks like it's my key that's not working...as my wife's key works fine. The car only has 2000 miles on it, so I doubt that the battery on the key is dead already, but I may try changing that as an easy fix. All the best, much better performance now on the forums as well...

POST 5Original post

Thanks for the info! I guess I have to use the remote more frequently since the 5 day auto shutdown will activate otherwise.

POST 6Original post

My key stopped working at 200 miles. I opened it up, tested the battery (o.k.) and replaced it. It worked again and has worked now up to my current 900 miles.

POST 7Original post

I have close to 3000 miles on my CS. One of my keys needs to be very close to the cockpit area for it to work. Porsche must use very cheap/weak batteries.

POST 8Original post

I know there is a specified time (not sure what it is though) where if the fob is not used within that time frame the car disables the key fob. You then have to open the car with the actual key and the key fob is reactivated as normal thereafter.
