Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

It's a simple install, you need two euro-to-motorola antenna adapters available from bestbuy or crutchfield (one male to female, one female to male to make the inline connection, allowing you to switch to the broadcas FM radio), tap a remote lead wire in the fuse box, or the one coming out of the ignition switch, or the one leading to the ASK amplifier from the headunit if you don't have Bose, and for main power use the 12v lead going into the cdr24.
Leading evidence: 'Use 12v lead going into the cdr24' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use 12v lead going into the cdr24' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
Using an inline FM modulator that is included with the Sirius starbase kit, but you could also use any other FM wired modulator, but you'd have an extra switch to mount for when you want to listen to the regular radio.

well it doesn't xmit over the air but rather is inline on the car antenna and you can use several frequencies.

Also I was going to use the starbase, similar to the XM commander, which is very, very small and mount it in front of and mount it in front of the shifter and hide the wires under the dash by drilling or route them into the small storage space under the climate control.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Because I will miss my Sirius radio, I stopped at the local Best Buy tonight and spoke to a clerk about installing either XM or Sirius radio in my new CS arriving in 4 weeks, hopefully! I expressed my concern about the wiring issue and his comments were this: you can plug into the cigarette lighter for power, the speakers are wireless it will play through existing speakers, you could mount it 2-3 ways, air vent, windshield bracket with suction cup, and suction cup on dash somewhere. The real problem area is the antenna, they both make magnetic antenna's and the only area of concerned would be mounting the antenna without the wire showing, he went on to say he's read all about the car and how hot it is and how much better it is than the 911 if it only had a turbo! My question is, I can't believe I'm the only guy who wants to add XM or Sirius in to the car, has anyone else added the aftermarket radio to his or her car yet and if so, any problems.
Assume you looked back at topics like this?

There are a few folks that have added satellite radio with the fm modulator as well.
Plugging the radio into the cigarette lighter port isn't a great idea unless you want to pull the adapter out of the port every time you shut off the car. The Cayman's cigarette lighter ports are live all the time - meaning, they're still powered when the key's not in the ignition.
Even when the satellite radio is powered off, there will still be some current drain. If you leave it plugged into a live outlet all the time, I'd worry about killing the battery.
I'm planning to add Sirius shortly. Using an inline FM modulator that is included with the Sirius starbase kit, but you could also use any other FM wired modulator, but you'd have an extra switch to mount for when you want to listen to the regular radio.

You can take the antenna wire through to the front boot and mount it in front of the windshield wipers.

Thanks Suneet, I will print your instructions off and take them with me to the local Best Buy store and show them to the installer for his thoughts. It's all Greek to me!
Whoa
Just go talk to your dealer. I will bet many people want satellite radio. They should have a subcontractor who does their satellite radio work. If your dealer doesnt, call the next closest ... your just looking for someone who is experienced in installations.
They come to your house and install in your driveway. Takes about an hour.
The guy I had do it does all the Porsches that come off the Baltimore Port at the Port or at the dealer. People like this usually also do BT installations and remote RADAR installations (althought the remote Radar needs to be done at the dealer because the bumpers come off and cost a lot of labor money)
I have the XM Commander. The HU is very tiny and fits in the cubby on the bottom of the switch bank. Its wired FM meaning .... well it doesn't xmit over the air but rather is inline on the car antenna and you can use several frequencies. It comes with a tiny remote so you dont even have to touch the tiny buttons on the HU. Just turn your FM radio on tuned to the correct station, turn on the XM and there you go.
The antenna is hidden where the GPS antenna is under the carbon fiber in the front bonnet.
That's where I meant to hide mine as well, sorry I didn't explain that better. Essentially my install will be the same as Chows4us; I'm just more of hands-on type of guy when it comes to electronics so I couldn't justify paying someone for it. It's a very, very simple install and bestbuy won't have a problem with it. For me since I already put in a subwoofer in the car, I plan to use tap the remote lead from the sub, which eventually leads to the fuse tap.

The installer popped the bonnet, Unscrewed the side plates and then the top plates near the windshield, CF pieces then have easy access. I did not watch how he screwed or secured the antenna itself. It was up behind the battery area.
Ditto from the inside as well. Several firewalls exist and you will see them all when you unscrew the plastic panel in the front boot. The two main ones in the car are one by the fuse box and one behind the glove box.
chows4us, could you give me the name of the installer you used with a contact phone no. if possible. I am in Maryland just east of D.C. (southern Anne Arundal) and would like to install XM in my Cayman. I already have it at home and in one other car (self install, not neat). Thanks
