however i will interject that i haven't been completely happy with it now that i've had it for a few weeks...frankly taking a really long time to change artists etc is annyoing and not very safe when driving...i am considering returning it.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

ps: no this is not the dice or denison product which is still not available.
sorry about repeating this but apparently the news got buried in another thread and personally i thought more people would be thrilled about this?? anyhow...
It's here!!! check out navtv.com for info...only works with MOST and nav systems and you must remove the CD changer if you have one installed! just had mine installed yesterday. i cost about a grand and is the cleanest setup out there so far...my only problem is that the scrolling thru menus (especially artists, etc) takes awhile)...so yes the menus are a bit clunky through the nav screen, but for pure straight through sound, it can't be beat...and thats what most of us want i think! ps: no this is not the dice or denison product which is still not available.
I'm glad that they have a solution but that sounds like a hack to me. If I understand it correctly, it emulates a tv tuner so the nav system just displays the video and provides the interface. I'd much rather a cleaner integration. If Dension doesn't make one, I think
mods4cars
will.
a hack? i don't think so...i don't know where you understood it is like a tv tuner, but the photo on their homepage is of a porsche screen that had it installed...the screen is quite well integrated. and i think the sound is what should be a greater concern?!
I agree that this is the best solution so far, but I think I'll hold out for another few months. The basis for my statement is the following line from
www.navtv.com/porsche.htm
"Fiber optic MOST and CAN Plug and play kit. Audio and video thru the A/V button, Emulates a factory TV Tuner and available for NTSC and PAL (Multi System)" Emulating a video image to make it work just seems like a hack. I'd rather have a more direct integration that doesn't make the PCM think its a video image. I think we would all like to see pictures if you can take some for us.
I just placed an order. It sounds like the best available
iPod
solution at the moment. They said they are waiting for an order of specialized cables from their supplier before they can ship the units. I hope this isn't a stall tactic.
Ordered a Dension unit for BLEU G8R's car last week. Still 2-4 weeks from actual release to retailers (yeah, I know, take what they say and double it--at least). Check Densionusa.com for a retailer near you--several here in SoCal. Price approximately $650 with install. If they quote you more in LA, check with International Auto Radio in North Hollywood. Will submit review when installed. This is a digital MOST-based system that interfaces with
PCM
--should give top-notch sound, and hopefully a user-friendly interface.

Why do I get the feeling that you work for navtv.com?? Apart from you saying 'it's great', I don't see anyone else praising it.. in fact, even their website has very sketchy information on MOST....
yeah uh i don't know why you would think that but i don't...no one else has probably gotten it yet i imagine? which is why i announced it...anyhow, frankly at this point it is the only option available that works. however i will interject that i haven't been completely happy with it now that i've had it for a few weeks...frankly taking a really long time to change artists etc is annyoing and not very safe when driving...i am considering returning it. ;-)
Here's an update on the Dension Dice system for our cars.
1) Initial offering will ONLY work with the
PCM
system so if you don't have
PCM
you are SOL until a following update comes out for non-
PCM
systems.
2) Initial offering is still delayed a few weeks while they wait for some parts to come in, although the initial offering appears to be working well.
K-man..any details on their system? My gripe with Navtv is that if you have a long list of artists, playlists, albums etc, the screen only displays about 20 at a time and then has to refresh (which takes way too long) before it can display more info...a real problem if anyone knows what i am talking about, especially if you are driving...ie, it may display AA-DD, and then stall until it refreshes and allows you to display EE-HH, and then again...so if you need to get to something starting with an S or T you have to do this like half a dozen times...not very user friendly. So...any word on what the limitations with Dice might be? Or would we simply bypass the nav screen and use the
ipod
directly?
I wish that the same version Dension would work with both. I'd love to get the
pcm
model and use it today (non-
pcm
) with maybe an adapter. If I decide to get
PCM
down the road, it would still work. If they did that, I would order one today. I believe the MSRP is around $499 but a group buy should drop it a bit.
spoke to denison today and they stated they don't have the glitch i mentioned with navtv...they expected it released in November sometime at around $599...if anyone gets a group buy going that would be very cool!
talk to eric at bumperplugs, he is organizing a group buy on the denison...its been pending for months now while they debug and test and finalize the system.

How does the Dension system actually work? Does it
plug
straight in place of the CDC-4 CD changer? and where would the
iPod
physically be? in the front luggage compartment? and finally, can one control the
iPod
from the
PCM
and multi-function steering wheel? may be we can ask them to add bluetooth for mobile phones as well! That would be the ultimate solution!
found out that the navtv product and the dennison are one in the same...dennison has simply delayed their release of the product while navtv (the developer) refines it...it should be ready first week of november unless you go to navtv directly...thought some of you would find this of interest!
When placing my order for the
Remote Key
I had a nice long chat with Stefan Wilhelmy and mentioned the need for a MOST bus iPod interface. He replied that this would be one of their next projects and that they are shooting, at least in the first iteration, for a quick and simple solution at much lower cost (than Denison). Initial goal is to provide just an external Aux input. This would allow non-Nav System car owners to get a high-quality audio feed from the iPod into the stereo system.
It would definitely do it for me, since I cannot bear the miserable audio quality from my various iPod FM transmitters any longer.
An external AUX input is all I want/need. I'd like to be able to hook up an
iPod
, a satellite radio tuner, or any MP3 player I want to. I really couldn't care less about having a display showing what track I'm playing.
The news from Wilhelmy is great. Hopefully they can come up with something good soon.
from what I know, it will replace the CD-Changer. So if you went for that option, that's bad luck. As to where the
ipod
will physicaly sit... I'm not so sure, but my preference would be in the front luggage compartment...
