I changed the sunroof switch and went through the reset process. This returned the one touch open function to open and the roof will close but it did not fix the failure to open without routing through the vent to close position before opening.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Unfortunately, this process did not work for me and I have to go through your same process of venting first before the roof will either open or close.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My sunroof has always made a creaking noise, with body flexible, as I exit driveways on an angles since I've owned the car (2 yrs). Recently the operation started to fail, the sunroof would not open with one touch and would not close unless the roof was fully opened - same with opening. The required to close, then vent, and close before it would open. I changed the sunroof switch and went through the reset process. This returned the one touch open function to open and the roof will close but it did not fix the failure to open without routing through the vent to close position before opening. The sunroof still creaks. At this point, I assume it may be an issue with the rails or other structural issue, however, I notice that rear of the interior sunroof cover is loose and can be pushed up easily when the roof is closed. The roof cover rattles when going over bumps or uneven pavement. Is this panel supposed to be loose, or because it is loose could it be disrupting the operation of the sunroof. I am going to take it into my mechanic to get it looked at but wanted some thoughts before I did. Thanks for your advise and thoughts.

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sorry, car is a 2006 C2S Coupe. Factory sunroof.

POST 3Original post

can you share the reset process? Mine must go up/down into Vent mode, before being able to slide back to full open.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The process I followed was to open the roof entirely then hold the "open" button down again. After a few seconds the roof will begin to close, then vent, then open. Once it goes through the entire cycle it supposedly will reset and then all of the functions of the sunroof will work. Unfortunately, this process did not work for me and I have to go through your same process of venting first before the roof will either open or close. Good luck with this.
