I started to troubleshoot this including removing the washer units on the headlights and checking for any blockage.

I also need to replace the black plastic floor for the headlight on one side as the pump attachment segment has snapped off so it doesn't hold the hose in place when you push the headlight back in.

In the process of swapping the bulbs I noticed the headlight washers weren't working properly (never really use these!).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, I'm a bit stuck with this one. 2004 996 C4S I noticed that one of my sidelights had gone recently and today I checked and both have now gone. I've removed the headlight enclosure and removed the sidelight bulb and it's connector: I presumed the bulb itself was removable (and replaceable) but it looks like I broke it. I'm struggling to source a replacement for this. My car has litronic lights apparently. I was also wondering about whether the fuses were the culprit since both sidelights have gone (albeit not at the same time). Is it worth going in this direction I wonder? Thanks in advance.

POST 2Original post

Are you talking about the side lights or main beam. The bulb in the pic is not a sidelight bulb but is a high power halogen bulb (50w). I think the litronics have gas discharge for dipped beam, then on main beam a high power halogen illuminates too. The sidelight is a much lower wattage smaller bulb around 5w .I think the pic you've put up is the main beam halogen.

POST 3Original post

Just been thinking about this and that bulb may actually be the fog light bulb. It is a halogen H3

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the reply, it's this one which I think is the sidelight/parking light? No light when I turn the stick one click.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Think you're right, it's the fog light. So where's the parking light bulb then!?

POST 6Original post

Isn't it the tiny 5W bulb under the mail headlight one?

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, I'll take another look and report back!

All sorted now. I got two LED parking lights for £3.99 from eBay: Xenon White 8 LED Sidelight Bulbs Lighting Lamp H6W For Citroen C4 C5 | eBay 1 PAIR H6W Canbus error free 8 3030 SMD LED sidelight/parking bulbs. Compatible with part numbers: H6W, 433, 434, Bax9s. Xenon HID conversion kits. We have been dealing with auto, LED's since April 2006! www.ebay.co.uk I know LED isn't to everyone's taste but I guess it complements the litronic headlights. The fog light went back in and worked too! In the process of swapping the bulbs I noticed the headlight washers weren't working properly (never really use these!). I started to troubleshoot this including removing the washer units on the headlights and checking for any blockage. No dice. Water comes out but not on the headlight! Looks like I might need to remove the actual pump and clean it out which I'll save for another day! I also need to replace the black plastic floor for the headlight on one side as the pump attachment segment has snapped off so it doesn't hold the hose in place when you push the headlight back in. Water just spurts everywhere!

I would be interested in what you find regarding the headlight washers - mine have never worked...
