Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

They use whatever shipping is less expensive and seem to have really good prices.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey guys I am working with a seller that is parting a 996 and the carpet matches what I have . So he is trying to figure out the best way to ship . So I am trying to help him figure out the best way to do it . Can OEM carpet be folded ? Or rolled up ? My initial thought was fold in half and put in a bicycle box . Second thought was fold/roll and shrink wrap .
How have you guys shipped carpet in the past ? Or how have you received carpet you purchased ? I want to make sure we cover all options . Many years ago I used Greyhound buses for odd shaped items but I am no longer near a terminal . All advice appreciated . Thanks
Are you buying all the carpet or just certain sections? The carpet in the rear (that lays under the rear glass or around the engine area) has a thick acoustic foam backing to minimize noise. I wouldn't fold it. Mine was shipped in a large flat square box so that the carpet would not be deformed. If my memory serve me right, it was something like 36x36x10. Maybe a little large.
The front carpet section under the front seat, is thin material and so it probably won't hurt to roll it, but again, I wouldn't fold it flat.
In some areas, for bulky odd packages, I've used Fastenal (Bolt and screw company) to move stuff, they have their own trucks and cross country can be a few weeks but it gets there.. and the $ are usually good. Its just a bit more fiddly than the UPS store.. Or Fedex...
For large things that are not easily damaged Greyhound is a great shipping option. I have shipped doors, fenders, sunroof frames, dashboards, and seats with Greyhound at prices that are way cheaper than anywhere else. You'll have to drop off and pick up at a Greyhound station which is an adventure in itself.
Depending on the price quotes you get for shipping it may be worth a drive.
I find that Fedex is less expensive than UPS for larger and heavier items. I also find the UPS store is rather expensive, shipping online by the Fedex or UPS website is always cheaper than paying retail.
Well, good question, since Kris has done it three times maybe he has a ballpark figure.
Also, it is my understanding that Greyhound suspended shipping. I kind of got the feeling it was permanent but correct me if I'm wrong.
Why is this so hard? I've been watching the conversation here with some amusement. I have shipped my golf clubs back and forth to and from South Florida by UPS for years. I imagine this carpeting when rolled up might look like a large golf bag. I also shipped a very heavy carpet 8 ft x 12 ft the same way. No problem at all. UPS has all sizes of ready made cardboard boxes for shapes like this. And carpeting is really unbreakable.
I just don't get it.
Sorry.
Rick
The seller I am working with has never shipped anything like a full carpet set . He expressed his concern so I thought I would ask the braintrust for suggestions . Not sure how making fun of the subject is helpful but to each their own . For those that have provided valid suggestions thank you .
I have been told that shipnerd.com is the "best" service. They use whatever shipping is less expensive and seem to have really good prices.
Too bad about Greyhound; that has been a great option for many years.
yes, you can certainly get things shipped, carpet included but at some point it becomes cost prohibitive and I think the question was how best to approach it because the value of the carpet may not justify the cost of shipping.
You might consider options also. If you are sending your golf clubs back and forth often enough it would be less expensive and less hassle to just buy another set. I have complete sets of near identical skis, boots, poles, helmets, jackets, goggles, Etc in two different states for that reason. No shipping, no damage, no lost equipment, no wasted time.
