Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have all the stereo parts, speakers, air control unit, air ducts, and steering wheel off of my 99 996. While I have removed 4 screws on the bottom so te dash is loose at the bottom, 2 screws at the stereo housing and one by the center of the windshield, the dash is still on the car rock solid at the top. Where are all the screws and other clips or fasteners located?
And, how do I remove the passenger side air bag?
Here are a couple pictures that might help you. The air bag is held on with bolts (two...if I remember correctly). Make sure your battery is disconnected. You can access them from the speaker hole and under the passenger side of the dash. If you search my user name, under "burnt 996 rebuild", you will find a diagram. The instrument cluster and passenger airbag will need to come off first, before you can remove the dash.
thanks Mark, your brunt 996 thread is a lot of help. I was able to remove the air bag and the 3 screws that hold the dash to the metal frame behind it. Now only the drivers side on the top is attached. Any tips on where the screws are back there?
Here is a link where you can download a document I made back in 08 when I removed the dashboard of my Boxster.
