Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Turned out it was the optical cable (which most people say “can’t fail” because it’s light but they fail to understand that it’s “light in a glass tunnel “ and glass CAN fail causing a loss of signal.
Leading evidence: 'optical cable (which most people say “can’t fail”' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'optical cable (which most people say “can’t fail”' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Install late 2021' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I have just fitted the replacement PCCM Plus which arrived this afternoon and pleased to say that so far all appears to be well.

We had swapped the amp to eliminate that amongst a whole host of other tests.

I don't remember, but it doesn't matter really) screws and a few cables to reconnect - 5 minutes of work, tops
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am seriously beginning to wish I hadnt bothered with the expense of this unit. Per the thread title, it has recently started crashing itself on a pretty much constant basis. Power it on and the physical buttons are significantly delayed. The screen seems less affected. Then it freezes, crashes and reboots itself...then we start all over again. It will do this every few minutes. Sometimes might be 5 mins between crashes other times it might not even get fully through the boot process before it locks up and resets itself again. It has rendered itself now pretty much unusable so I have contacted the retailer but as I bought this unit over 3 years ago I'm guessing they will just say that it is out of warranty and tough.
I have an Android TV which also crashes more regularly than I would like and so I think perhaps their software is just not very good!
I spoke to Luke at FGP to see if he had come across anything similar on any of the units they install but he said no, and that they generally seem to be pretty reliable (obviously not my own experience!).
Some online investigating found one other person on the Rennlist forum with the exact same symptoms as me but didnt say how / if he had resolved them. Somebody there suggested the AMP/CAN fix but this did nothing for me as I was setup correctly on CAN (I have an '03 C4S with MOST).
I've also put a call into my local Porsche Classic dealership and the Head of Classic who I have met a couple of times before. I think they will just want it in for diagnosis though which I'll have to pay for and that doesnt really sit well with me when I know that its to do with the unit / software that they supplied.
Just posting this really for reference for anyone else and in the very faint hope that there's someone else out there with a similar problem who might be able to give me a definitve answer on the solution.
It could be worth getting it into Porsche. The diagnostic will hopefully include a software update which then may fix the issue.
I have had no issues with my unit. When we fitted one to my mates car that has MOST we got no sound. The solution was a later version AMP. We actually took one from an early 997. After that no issues.
Hope you can find a solution soon.
Hi, I had problems with mine when I first had it. It kept loosing all sound. Turned out it was the optical cable (which most people say “can’t fail” because it’s light but they fail to understand that it’s “light in a glass tunnel “ and glass CAN fail causing a loss of signal.
We had swapped the amp to eliminate that amongst a whole host of other tests. I don’t have the answer to your problem but don’t rule out the Most cables.
Did it give you a full frequency range on the equaliser or just bass+treble?
So latest update to this. I contacted the retailer who has agreed to take it back and exchange so hopefully no similar issues with the replacement. Just a faff for em to have to uninstall and reinstall a new unit but...could have been worse!
I have just fitted the replacement PCCM Plus which arrived this afternoon and pleased to say that so far all appears to be well.
No crashes experienced yet and a bonus appears to be that the previous issues I had been having with DAB / DAB+ (see my other thread) appear to have been resolved also. Early days of course and I will need to test over a more prolonged period of time but...so far, so good.
I wonder whether all of my previous issues were down to the old faulty unit which must have come that way out of the box?
