Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Mrs A never liked our hardback 996 sports seats so I fitted 997 seats, as other have said, we found then a huge improvement and the wiring isn't complicated, it's just a shame that Porches changed the connector design.
Leading evidence: 'Install 997 seats, as other have said, we found' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'best modification i’ve done' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Install 997 seats, as other have said, we found' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suspected cause
991 sports seats in mine, was probably the best modification I’ve done to either of my 996s.

Suggestion
The problem with recommending seat is that we are all different chapes and sizes.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Morning all, i'm looking at options for front seats in my 996. I currently have the " comfort " seats and whilst i like the look of them, i feel i sit on them rather than in them and can't lower them any lower. I sat in Alex's sports seats on saturday which do " feel " lower and i'm aware of the 997/987 seat sitting lower but i was wondering what other options are available, or, what have others fitted..?
I've done my due diligence and searched the subject but one never knows.
Si.
Order an XSU (Targa) seat base and foam from OPC and replace. Pretty sure this works in the sports seats, not sure if it's the same with the comfort seats? Targa seats defo lower than standard, to avoid your head whacking the roof rail!
I had 997 sports seats in my car, they were amazing - I can't recommend them enough. The original 996 "
comfort"
seats offered no support and on longer drives I got lower back pain.
(I only sold the 997 seats as they were black leather, which clashed with the savannah beige interior of my car - I replaced them with 996 GT2/GT3 bucket seats...also very comfortable)
Mine had the 996 sports seats in and i've fitted some 997 comfort seats recently (heated too and kept the 996 switchgear and got it working with the 997 seats). They are subtly lower and more supportive.
Swapped my 986 sports seats into my 996 and painted the backs and put new Recaro Pole Position ABEs in my 986 (plus seat warmer pads). Pole Pole Positions are superb (driven from UK to Southern Spain, South of France, Italy very comfortably), not great as a daily, but if the car is 'occasional' it makes the car feel much more special. I also replaced the foam in driver side back section of the Sports seats which made them much better.
The issue with 987/997 sports seats is that they have become increasingly expensive as the upgrade for 986/996 owners is now considered to be a huge upgrade and very desirable. I've never seen a post anywhere disagreeing (one just about to be posted in reply to this.......).
Remove the seat heater relay loom and chop the connectors off the 996 seat. Splice four wires. Two are the power supply to the backrest control, two from the start heater relay to the heater elements.
MLR are your friends here, they’re making me some RS carbon seats and they’ll either have what you want on the shelf or they’ll get them for you.
When I was talking about my interior the guys were saying they’ve got a variety of stuff available for me to pick and choose from.
They’ve also usually got a variety of cars there with different options so you can try some out.
I’m perhaps the only person not so keen on the 997 sports seats, they’re pretty good to be fair but I can never get them quite perfect. The 930 seats feel so much better/luxurious and perhaps old school top of the range trumps newer built to a budget seats?
Bizarrely the most comfortable seats I’ve ever had were carbon buckets in my Caterham, they were ergonomically perfect and all day long comfortable, so don’t discount good race style seats IF they’re good ones.

Afternoon all, looks like i've secured a pair of black leather 996 wingback seats..... are they literally just bolt in ..?
They were originally in a 986.2 Boxster but can't imagine they're different..?
