Never got any traction on this, but I needed to do some maintenance: oil change, air filter, battery (was 3 years old), cleaned the TB again and e-gas reset, and the high idle went away...for a month.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey dudes, My 2003 Tip Targa has been acting pretty weird the last couple outings. Starts fine and up until yesterday drove fine; once it's warmed up, when I put in park it'll ramp up to 2,000 RPMs and stay there. Yesterday, it pretty much lost any power and would crawl through gears...no real acceleration. So I cleaned the MAF and TB and did the e-gas reset (ignition on 60 seconds, off 10 seconds, and start). Took it out and ran and idled fine. Today, it ran fine but the idle ramped up to 2k again. If you stick it in park it'll slowly raise to 2k and sit there...if you blip the throttle it'll shoot up to 2k and sit there. No codes thrown other than my o2 sensors from the 100-cell cats. I'm leaning towards vacuum leak, but are there any "usual suspect" hoses to look for? Thanks!

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quick update: took it out and ran it tonight, got it warmed up and idled fine. Blipped the throttle, and RPMs settled back to 700. At first I was thinking maybe it was weather/temperature related (all of my past German cars have been temperamental in cold weather) but yesterday was 74 and it's 53 tonight. So, dunno Thanks

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Another update: Never got any traction on this, but I needed to do some maintenance: oil change, air filter, battery (was 3 years old), cleaned the TB again and e-gas reset, and the high idle went away...for a month. Now it's back. Still throwing no codes and I couldn't find any vacuum leaks, so I'm thinking maybe it's a throttle or coolant sensor maybe? It's also finally warm enough here for the a/c to make a difference, when I turn it on, the idle will settle.

Thanks for the suggestion, Jeep...from my research it looks like Porsche did away with the IAC for e-gas cars, right?

nope just changed it. I think they call it a throttle valve switch
