I use copper grease on my daily cars but for the Porsche I use something like Mintex CeraTec, Bream B-Quiet or LiquiMoly Bremsen-Antu-Quietsch-Paste.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I bought a brand new brembo discs and pads kit for my c4s from Design911. Fitted them all myself with no issues, it was surprisingly easy. However I now have squealing brakes at low speed. Done some research the only thing I did not do is put copper grease or equivalent at the back of the pads. The youtube video I watched did not mention it unfort. Would it solve my issue? Would it be fine to remove them to add the grease? What grease shall I use?

POST 2Original post

Some new pads have an anti squeal coating on the back but I tend to be a bit old skooll and put some grease on the back just in case. I use copper grease on my daily cars but for the Porsche I use something like Mintex CeraTec, Bream B-Quiet or LiquiMoly Bremsen-Antu-Quietsch-Paste. Did you put the stick on anti vibration damper pads on, that fit into the back of the pistons? I think they are also some sort of antisqueel too, but make it more of a PITA to remove the pads frequently. It should be fine to remove the pads and slide back in (in you haven't stuck the damper things on).

I have stuck the anti squeal pads (the ones which goes into the back of the pistons) so that is not the issue, obviously it does mean that I will be tricky to remove them to put the copper grease now...

POST 4Original post

I never understand how squealing brakes is caused from the back of the pads, I mean you might get a very short squeal once when you brake but for it to continue it must be the pad material on the discs...right?? I bought some Brembo discs for my Turbo like you from D911 and they warped , totally ruined a trackday in Anglesey last year. I bedded them in really carefully for 1k miles before going but they warped whilst on track and braking was horrible so I quit the track. D911 eventually took them back and I got a refund. I wasn't bashing the Turbo , I just wanted to be on a track so I could explore what the car was like in the safety of a track, also I have very little track experience , it was great fun until the discs warped.

POST 5Original post

In my experience the brembo pads just squeal. I also had a bad experience with D911 brembo discs (shaking when hot), replaced with Sebro and they still squeal (Brembo sport pads).

POST 6Original post

I recently switched to Sebro (slotted) and Ferrodo DS2500 pads, only occasional squeal. Prior to that I had the stock drilled with racier Pagid pads which were a bit of a pain for squealing.

POST 7Original post

Porkchops, is this only at low speed when coming to a stop? If so, I've got the same problem. I'd try bedding them in (5 firm stops from 50mph to walking speed, allow to cool then repeat but from 60+mph). Hopefully that fixes it for you. I think my pads need de-glazing. Either that or its the rears which came with the car. Sebro slotted disks are on my list too but its not worth doing it at the moment.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 2712940

yeah it's only at slow speed when coming to a stop...really annoying, I have been trying to bed them in but with no success. I will try your technique again...Are sebro slotted disk better?

POST 9Original post

I too have the annoying squeal at slow speeds, having bought all genuine parts, I did not expect it. I have read that unglazing the pads will stop it, but not convinced this will resolve the issue.

Perhaps you were unlucky & had a bad batch? I bought the D911 kit of Brembo discs & pads a few years back & had them fitted by Precision Porsche. I think they used OEM vibration dampers rather than the ones supplied by D911. I'm not sure what grease they used, but I had no issues with squealing & performance was great. However they did generate more brake dust than the OEM pads.

POST 11Original post

my brakes squeal at very low speeds. I have Textar pads but not 100% sure on the discs. My last car, I installed Brembo discs and pads, and I never heard a peep from the brakes. I have some spare Textar pads and they some shim installed on the piston mating surface.
