Hi all! I’m after a little bit of advice if possible please…. I have a
Cayman
987.2
S which has
PASM
.
I got back from a trip to the Nurburgring yesterday and want to ‘improve’ the handling a little.
Whilst the car drove amazingly and was great fun, I didn’t have the confidence to push it in the corners as it felt a little jittery and a bit boaty so to speak!
i’m running Pilot 4 and pressures were checked before going out etc.
I don’t have a huge amount to spend unfortunately but, could someone please advise if a set of H&R anti roll bars, polly bushings and possibly a set of H&R springs would make a noticeable improvement please or, what would be best course of action?
Thanks in advance
Are you saying they were at the sticker recommended (comfort) pressure?
The pressures were dropped to 28 psi before heading out on the first lap, then 27 on the second lap
I think stiffer springs and roll bars will help a lot. I would stay with the rubber bushings. If you get adjustable roll bars, you will have options for adjustment.
One thing to consider is coilovers. Yes, they would cost more, but the improvement is substantial. And the labor is probably similar to replacing springs.
I felt my car was far too soft in the stock setup. I added
Ohlins
coilovers and Tarret sway bars along with drop links and other necessary hardware. It transformed the car into a very tight driving sports car. And I can adjust the coilovers for either street or track. A bit pricey, but money well spent. I have zero regrets.
Thank you for the reply!
I would love to go with a decent set of coilovers, I’ll have to see how far I can stretch the budget!
Can I just ask please, what other hardware did you add?
I used a pretty full compliment of Tarrett products: adjustable sway bars, drop links, adjustable toe link in rear, tension compression link in the front. I also installed Rennline GT3 lower control arms in front because the Tarrett ones were not available. I use the car at the track so those GT3 control arms wouldn’t be needed for a street setup.
The car was completely transformed into a precision driving instrument. It goes exactly where pointed without any slop. Yet I can soften the
Ohlins
settings and it’s pretty compliant on the road. If I had a street setup I would set the
Ohlins
for a 10 mm drop rather than the 20 mm default. This way the car is only lowered 1 cm which I would regard as ideal for the street.
Thank you, thats very helpful 🙂
