Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I've gotten my 2008 Cayman S now running perfectly, and now looking into some modifications I can do. I would like to turn it into a track car and potentially race in the Pirelli Porsche Race Series, however it would also see some street use. In order to legally race in NZ, I would need to add a full roll cage, full bucket seats, and a 6 point harness. For the roll cage, here are the requirements it must have: Main rollbar (Hoop) Front rollbar (Or 2 lateral rollbars) Connecting members between main and (Front or lateral) rollbars Safety harness bar 2 backstays At least 1 diagonal member I would prefer to get one full roll cage package rather than have to get each bit seperately. After scouring google for over an hour, I could only find 3 cages that fit the requirements: Cayman safety cell roll bar roll cage bar kit - 987 Porsche Cayman 986/987 Multipoint CDS Roll Cage Kit Porsche Roll Cage Steel Weld In 987 Are there any other roll cages that fit the requirements that I missed? And of them all, which one should I choose? For the full bucket seats, the requirements are: Allows for the correct fitment / use of safety harnesses Be of one of the following standards: FIA 8855-1992 FIA 8855-1999* FIA 8862-2009* SFI 39.1 SFI 39.2 * Indicates it is approved for international use It looks like there are a ton of seats to choose from that fit these requirements. I am 6'1" which would likely play a factor in selecting a seat. Another factor is that I would like to regurlarly drive it on the street, so it should be comfortable enough for that. The Pirelli Porsche Race Series also includes endurance races, so it will need to be comfortable regardless. Practicallity getting in and out isn't a concern to me, unless it is to the extent where it is unsafe. I would like to get one with the Porsche crest stitched in, so either getting one with that already done, or with a headrest section large enough to get an aftermarket stitching. This is preferred, if there are good ones out there that don't allow for this then still post them. I'll also need a 6 point harness, which I haven't yet looked into my options for that. It must be of one of the following standards: FIA 8853-2016 FIA 8853/98 SFI 16.1 SFI 16.5 Aditionally, I will need a fire extinguisher, and I have two options for this: Powder BE or ABE 0.9kg - 5B fire rating Foam AFFF, AR-ARFF, or AR-FFFR 1L - 5B fire rating Again, I have not yet looked into these, but some opinions would be nice. Please not that these are just the modifications required to make my car 'Track Legal'. I plan on doing a lot of performance, handling, and other safety mods too, and will likely create another post for that. Edit: Change to wording

POST 2Original post

If you do not plan on using the car on the street, the Sparco QRT Circuit (halo bucket seats) might be a good fit. You should also invest in a HANS device - if you get into an accident wearing a harness and helmet you can snap your neck quite easily without a HANS device.

POST 3Original post

Yes, I will be getting a HANS device and some other equipment for me. I'll need one to be allowed to legally race. This post was more about the modifications required to my car to make the it track legal. As for the Sparco QRT Curcuit, what would make it unideal for the street? It looks to be a normal bucket seat to me, though the padding looks a little thin if your talking about comfortability on longer drives.

POST 4Original post

You are right that all halo seats would reduce your visibility. The point of a halo seat is containment - specifically lateral movement of your head. It supplements the use of a HANS device.

POST 5Original post

Update for anyone with the same question - I will be going to a local team that races in the Pirelli Porsche Series for them to build and install the cage. This is really the best solution I found as shipping a roll cage from overseas seems like a risky endevour, and I would still have the problem of finding someone to install it.

POST 6Original post

Post up the process and final product. Looking forward to how it comes out.

POST 7Original post

Will do. It likely wont be for a couple months but definitely before the end of the year
