It's been listed since May and seems to have quite a low price. What's wrong with it? Is Carmine red a very unpopular colour?
Colour isn't done any favours by the terrible photos and the poor preparation, looks grubby.
This, however would put me right off
https://supercarsourcing.com/
Amateur hour website, broken links etc.. etc..
Carmine red was the launch colour on the 991.1 GTS and looked fantastic.
Can't quite get my head round it on a racier model like a GT4...think the plainer colours work better, or silver.

I don't understand what kind of business this is, not a normal dealer but not a private seller either.
The address listed on Autotrader just looks like a residential house, and all photos seem to be taken in random public places.

The seller is Joe @_Superleggera_ on here and well known authority on Alfa 4Cs having owned and dealt in them for several years.
He acts as a consignor for specialist vehicles, effectively marketing cars for sale on the owners behalf and dealing with the sale, somewhat similar to SOR. I believe this all started with the 4C and from what I've seen the business has grown.
From my conversations when I was looking to sell my 4C Joe gave me the impression he was very particular about consigning/buying and ultimately offering cars for sale. In other words I wouldn't expect to find a turd rolled in glitter and if this car appeals I wouldn't dismiss it out of hand.
As to why it hasn't sold I don't know unless it is the colour? It's got all the extras (and then some), dual climate, the right seats and OPC warranty at an appealing price?
I think these are harder to shift than people assume. When I moved mine on, it was a case of accepting a middling offer (there was only one) or sticking. I imagine it doesn’t help that the seller looks like a broker, whatever their true role may be.
I suspect - though this is a guess - that quite a few people pass over these working in the assumption that they’ve had the nuts ragged off them on a track. All the more so for the clubsport cars (which I had; this isn’t one of those).
only thing that would put me off personally is the colour, having owned Carmine I could never get away with it, I also find people either like red cars or they don't.
I don't like the decals, not a fan of that look at all but easily removed and everyone will be aware of that. Miles are nice and has the seats, looks a good buy for someone.

Hopefully he'll see the thread, the cars for sale link goes to their PH dealer page which is broken. Easy fix.

Interesting isn't it? Plenty of people say that without the fixed bucket seats/CS pack these cars are harder to shift and worth less, but I hear what you're saying, and cars seem to be priced pretty randomly - mileage hits price but spec doesn't seem to consistently make a difference. No idea if fixed bucket/CS cars are selling faster or not of course, but my guess would be that it's the luck of the draw as to whether the right buyer comes along for your car. Also I think they are at the kind of age and price point that's very top of private sale/no finance pricing and near the bottom of what main dealers want and buyers want to finance.
On topic, it's the colour (possibly combined with the decals) that puts me off this one. Better pictures would help though. Also I like silver wheels but don't think they go with Carmine Red, a darker shade/black would suit better IMO. Not a massive fan of red cars generally but there's a Guards Red one "awaiting pictures" on Autotrader so interested to see what that looks like.

Carmine is a very marmite colour on anything other than a Porsche GTS and broadly on any Porsche especially a Porsche GT. Most folks immediately associate it with a GTS so its not hard to see why this car has hung around.
Carmine GT3s are extremely hard to shift and the GT4 is no different.
The other problem is whilst the car has quite expensive extended leather additional options, the stitching belts and door pulls are in the nearest matching colour i.e. Guards red as are the brake calipers which do not really match and this has the overall effect of making the Carmine bodywork look dull.
Other lesser problems are not only the silver wheels but silver decals too which make the colour mix against the Carmine paint rather insipid.
Plain Guards red with satin platinum wheels and matching red stitching and Guards red brake calipers looks far better being brighter overall especially on a GT4 and is a free option as well. My 2016 GR 981 GT4 and my identical 2021 718 GT4

If f it’s been for sale for over 6 months and still not sold it’s down to the price.
If it was priced correctly it would have sold.

I agree. Looks like a nice car. The red accents are ok and I even like the boy racer stripes on the side.
The colour isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but the 2024 reality is that the asking price is too high for the current market. It’s surprising given the cost of new cars, but one man’s loss is another man’s opportunity. If prices drop then at least it liberates owners to move away from the OPC network and they can add a better exhaust, lightweight flywheel and ECU tune to let the engine sing.

Its been for sale for about a year - I have posted about it before.

What price do you think it would need to drop to for people to see past the colour? perhaps from £59K to £49K.
I guess the whole market could be substantially overpriced but the cheapest GT4 on Autotrader (or here) is £49995 and has 65k miles on the clock - feels like about £55k is right.

Just because the cheapest currently listed is £55k with 65k miles doesn’t mean it worth £55k.
You may be correct, the whole market might be substantially overpriced priced.

Cheapest currently listed is £50k, but agreed of course, and I'm not saying it'd sell at full price if you dropped the advertised price to £55k, but unless the whole market is cut by £5k-£10k, dropping it to £49k would mean it was well out of step. Which may itself put people off.
My Carrara White one went for just under £63k a couple of weeks ago. Not quite as highly specced for trim, but maybe a little less marmite in paint and wheel colour. And CS - can't see a cage in that one.
Mine sold SOR via an OPC with used Porsche warranty, in absolutely remarkable condition for age, and with similar mileage to that one. Also had very full service history, warranty work history, recent genuine Porsche discs and pads, newly painted front bumper and new front splitter, new Cup 2s about 1 track day and 500 miles ago. Pretty much everything you could possibly want in an 8 1/2 year old GT4.
Without in-person inspection of that one, if the car is "right" in most ways, the price should be in the ball park. But if it needs anything doing to it, it's probably on the rich side. I LOVE Carmine, and it looks delightfully unusual on a GT4. But red cars don't always age that well for some reason. Sadly I think my spare set of satin black 982 GT4 wheels and tyres are now spoken for, because they would improve the look of that one no end. If I was in the market for one, it would definitely be of interest.

Pictures taken at the Garrison if I’m not mistaken. Looks like a nice car - love the colour.
(No affiliation with seller, just in case anyone makes an incorrect assumption)

Thanks for that, really interesting.
ETA - I wouldn't normally look twice at a white car (I tend to go for yellow for some reason!) but it's such a classic Porsche colour and (in my opinion at least) really suits the GT4.

What do you guys think of the one with the Fabspeed GT450 upgrade/mod below?
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202410245...
I really like that one, great colour, the mods are very desirable, and definitely weren't cheap - the Fabspeed 450 kit is going to be at least £7k ($10k+) all in on its own, for example. That doesn't mean it makes the car easier to sell (the opposite I reckon). I reckon it'll hang around for the right buyer as most are after standard cars. Suspect it's a phenomenal thing to drive.
I really like reds personally, especially Carmine, but there is something about that car I can't put my finger on. I hate decals too.
£59k though.... absolute s
t load of car for the money. The right person is going to come along and get a bargain.
If I was in the market I'd over look that car because the colour doesn't suit it, the silver wheels don't suit it, the door stickers look tacky and there's far too much red on the interior for my taste
Its a nice car but the market is v poor and winter. Maybe 10% of 981 GT4s in on AT. WBAC on my car 981 white CS 33k was £46k. The funny PTS green sold on CC for £58 inc comm. Probably need to see a some big price cuts if people want to shift them. I am keeping mine for a while yet!

It's funny how it is so subjective. I like Carmine whenever I've seen it in the flesh but I've always disliked the black wheels that 99% of Carmine cars seem to have. I've seen one or two now with silver wheels, which I think looks far better
The phots in the advert are pretty washed out so the colour doesn't really look like Carmine at all. If I was in the market for a GT4 I would definitey be looking at it. It's interesting that Carmine is a marmite colour.

Get rid of the daft Porsche decal on the rear wing and the boy racer ones on the doors.
This and the silver wheels. Carmine red is a beautiful colour, it's the pictures and prep of the car that let it down.
Pic of my Cayman GTS just to show how good Carmine red can look.
Whilst I agree about the decals, which can obviously be removed in a couple of hours - I am genuinely baffled by the dislike (hate is too strong a word) for the silver wheels - I think it looks fantastic with them..
Horses for courses I guess.

The Porsche crowd is clearly hard to please, I think it's a great colour plus the decals and red accents actually go quite well. Not everyone is after GT silver or other boring monochrome options, in fact I'd go out of my way to avoid those.
There's also nothing in any of the photos to indicate it hasn't been prepped well unless I'm missing something glaringly obvious. It's easy to be an anonymous expert when it comes to selling cars but I'd put my money on the guy who's sold hundreds of them having the most expertise.
My only bit of constructive criticism is that the photos were taken in really harsh sunlight which reduced the contrast/dynamic range of the shots, echoing some of the earlier comments, but it shouldn't be an issue if the price is attractive to prospective buyers
DarkVeil said:

I'm of the same opinion and would actively seek out a car with silver wheels.
Were GT4 marketed mostly with darker wheels? Maybe people are concerned its not looking "stock"?
Everyone’s talking spec and colour but I think it could equally be a px problem.
When I bought mine recently it was down to the car and spec yes, but also the dealer was motivated to take my car in px to resell. The offer was where I needed it to be yet other dealers were miles off making it impossible to close a deal no matter the GT4.
I had all but given up hope that a px dealer would be tenable and was starting to think I was locked into waiting for a private sale.
But agree on previous comments re dealer, colour, stickers and wheels not helping.
Arctic Grey has gone off in popularity.
The writing was always on the wall for this once popular fad but drab primer colour.
That car is greyer than John Major.

The wheels would look better in anthracite/gun metal and would likely make the red pop more, it looks dull against the silver wheels

To my eyes this photo is more representative of Carmine in real life. I think the silver wheels look vastly better than black.
I had a carmine Red 718 Boxster S with silver summer wheels and black winter wheels and thought it might a lovely colour.
Make your own decision on what looks best.
I've quite liked the satin black wheels, but I wonder if it is because they compliment the black roof of side vents?

Its not the wheels it’s the colour clash with the red calipers that does it for me
I don’t think the pictures are doing it any favours at all.
Personally I love Carmine red one of the reasons I picked my Macan was the colour. Think it can work with black or silver wheels.
Probably controversial but the thing that would put me off the most is the bucket seats unless I was just using it as a track car.

The guards red calipers and carmine red paintwork never bothered me one bit. It was barely recognisable on the car.
I loved the Carmine Red paint. I think the issue with the OP Car for me is the naff stickers on the side. 👎
Opinion on colour is such a curious and personal taste. I, I loved it on my Boxster, but I saw a carmine Red Macan GTS in the Alps a couple of summer ago and wasn't a fan. I think thought the car was too big to carry the large splash of red. It so funny how opinions vary

over priced, thats the only reason anything in the world doesn't sell. £60k asking for a GT4, makes likely trade in high 40's. people have seen how quick all prices are coming down. There's 100's of them also.

There's a car for every buyer, and a buyer for every car. Your one looks great in Carmine I'm sure, and my favourite valuations are for cars that really arent for sale. I've been loath to sell any of my Cayman's, and have done pretty OK every time so far. I'm willing to catch a cold on the next one, just on the basis that I've done pretty well so far. If any of them turn out to be worthless, that's fine on my side. They are worth something to me.

Totally agree. My comment was very much tongue in cheek.
I had an mk2 Audi TTS in Orange, traded it for my first Porsche, a Basalt Black 981 CS at Cameron Cars. They sold the TT within a week.
I’ve never worried about moving a car on, mine is a decent spec and IF I ever decide to sell it, it will sell.

And yet the number of bucket seated GT4s for sale at OPCs are at an all time low and prices have risen over the last few months which is quite remarkable on the run up to Christmas post budget with the gloomy economic backdrop.
I was referring to 981's. Plenty of cars in varying spec available in and around the same price and not many are selling. I don't think bucket seats is much of a sales driver either, plenty of them around too that aren't selling.
45x 981s for sale and 10 of those are Clubsport.
Noticed quite a few price drops, Aberdeen Sapphire Blue non-CS car just dropped £1k, JZM Black non-CS dropped to £60k.
The Clubsport cars seem to stay firm on price from what I've tracked
There was a nicely specced one at low miles at £60k that sold very fast, the rest irrespective of spec are sitting there. CS or not CS doesn’t seem to make much of a difference. The Porsche ones are a bit higher priced with the 2y warranty obviously.
To me it looks like a dysfunctional market. Plenty for sale, not much is moving. You can’t really trust the pricing.
With that in mind, I stopped looking a couple of weeks ago.

I’d quite like the red tartan version of the seat inserts for my Carmine Red ‘4.
The ad indicates all the original parts come with the car so the seat inserts can be swapped back to the stock one if the ones in situ aren’t liked.
I am currently looking at these as my next car
I see this one has been for sale a while and now under 60k
Problem I have is the service history serviced in 2018 at 330 miles then not serviced again until 2023 at 4000 miles then again at 7000 miles in 2024
The 5 year gap in service history irrelevant of miles puts me off a bit.

I've looked at this car too on AT.
Don't personally know the car and haven't seen it in person, but someone posted it on the GT4 Facebook page and quite a few people commented negatively on the condition, most notably the panel gaps around the front.

Yes a few things with it don't quite sit right with me for my dream car.
I don't want missing service history panel gaps etc
would prefer a higher mileage car with solid history and bodywork.
the temptation to buy a cayman 718 4.0 might be the car i sway to in the end
have you got a link to the gt4 page ?

cheers will have a look
That interior is awful. Stevie Wonder involved ?
Might have been tolerable if the seats were black and they just added the cloth inserts but everyone knows brown seats on a Porsche won’t mean a plain plastic black dash.
The cloth on the door armrests is bad enough but doing the speaker surround bit is full on tacky.
The alcantara on the wheel is pretty shiny too…
That would need a £25k discount before I’d consider it.

Joke price for dog poo unoriginal car with almost 50k miles.
Hideous basic placcy dashboard door tops and console too.
Rindt.
Yes really needs alcantara on the dashboard, door tops and console at the very least. Not sure I could cope with the same trim as the seats have been covered in on those areas. Like the exterior colour though.
Talking of which what type of seats are they? Are they standard comfort seats for the GT4?

Looks like the car I spotted at PH Sunday Service Mercedes Benz World this month.
Looked fab.
I wonder if that is the Carmine Red one that was discussed a few month back with the spec of every interior option ticked.
