My OEM sleeves were blowing recently (they are notorious for this) so I replaced with these 55 mm (inner diameter) sleeves (

I binned the supplied clamps (didn't trust them to clamp evenly) and ordered 4x Mikalor Supra Heavy duty 59-63mm W2 clamps which I used instead.

Suggestion
As for sizes, using vernier calipers to measure the outer diameter of your pipes and sleeves is key to ensuring you order the correct clamp size.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

After a liberal smear of exhaust paste and some copper slip to ensure than the clamps and sleeves reduced smoothly and evenly, no more leaks and the Swedish MOT inspector approved my work.
So after almost losing an exhaust tip due to a rusted through clamp (that I’ve now sorted), I’ve realised that the other clamps on the exhaust are looking very ropey. Exhaust is a Topgear switchable with 200 cell cats (fitted approx 4 years ago) and it looks like there are 6 U bolt type clamps fitted.
Can anyone suggest a supplier for stainless steel replacements, and any idea what size I need (I know I could go and measure, but it’s cold and wet outside!
)?
I have these joining my cat to silencer. Those rubbish things they sell on ECP, etc. are a waste of time.

Are you (Tim996c4) referring to the clamps around the sleeves to join the cats to the rear silencers, eg
https://www.rosepassion.com/en/diag...02-p132164-clamping-sleeve-99611122001-132164
? This product combines the OEM sleeves and clamps which may differ in diameter to those you may have due to the thickness of the material.
My OEM sleeves were blowing recently (they are notorious for this) so I replaced with these 55 mm (inner diameter) sleeves (
https://www.biltema.se/en-se/car---...systems/repair-kits/connector-pipe-2000018900
) which had the added benefit of being 100mm long, 25mm longer than the OEM sleeve but the same outer diameter. I binned the supplied clamps (didn't trust them to clamp evenly) and ordered 4x Mikalor Supra Heavy duty 59-63mm W2 clamps which I used instead. The outer diameter of my clamped sleeves being within this 59-63mm range. After a liberal smear of exhaust paste and some copper slip to ensure than the clamps and sleeves reduced smoothly and evenly, no more leaks and the Swedish MOT inspector approved my work. All in I paid about 40% of cost of the OEM sleeves and clamps.
The above worked for me, but I would suggest measuring with vernier calipers so that you order the correct clamp size given your sleeves' clamped outer diameter. If you google the above Mikalor clamp, I am sure you'll find a supplier in the UK.
Thanks all. They look just like the ones in Alex's link, There is also a 3rd one each side that seems to fix the exhaust to a strut.
The sleeve looks fine, so it's just the clamps I want to replace.
The composition of the measurements of the pipes, sleeves, clamps for me went like this:
1.
Outer diameter
of cat pipe and back box pipe: 54.7mm (cat pipe) and 53.8mm (Milltek rear silencers)
2. Given 1. above, a sleeve with a 55mm
inner diameter
was selected. I checked at the store with my vernier calipers that the pipes would also fit inside the sleeve with no issue
3. The
outer diameter
of my OEM sleeves were measured in situ before removal and with the clamps shut - this outer diameter was on average for the 2 sleeves (left and right)
62mm
. The OEM sleeves were comparable in terms of material and design to the new 55mm inner diameter but 25mm longer sleeves from
Biltema
62mm
is within the range of
59-63mm
clamps that I selected. It's important to measure but also recognise inner and outer diameters. I did consider buying a set of clamps in another size in case my calculations were amiss, but having just forked out for a full engine rebuild in Germany the week before, was interested in saving a few SEK wherever possible. And it all worked out - no blows from the clamps area.
For stainless steel replacements, I had good luck with suppliers like Profusion Exhausts and found their stainless steel clamps durable. As for sizes, using vernier calipers to measure the outer diameter of your pipes and sleeves is key to ensuring you order the correct clamp size. From my experience with exhaust clamp
evil energy fittings
, I like to opt for Mikalor Supra heavy-duty clamps. They clamp evenly and securely, essential for preventing leaks, especially after applying exhaust paste. Best of luck.
